My almost 2 yr old guy won't eat any greens offered whatsoever, no fruits/veggies, etc. He's stuck on only eating his worms - all the different worms, still not interested in his crickets either.
We had him out in our garden the other day as it was nice & warm and he went nuts for the tulip leaves, just started eating them like crazy. We weren't sure if it was good for him or not so I pulled him away after a couple bites (we were in shock that he was eating them at all so it took us a minute to realize maybe that wasn't great for him?)... is it?
I thought maybe he'd appreciate his greens better if they looked like a "real" plant, so I put the whole parsley stems & leaves in a small pot (clean, no dirt) so that he could "hunt" them but he wasn't fooled...
So we're wondering, what natural plants/flowers are healthy for him to eat that we could grow at home - dandelion I know for sure, I'm going to grow a bunch of that in a rubbermaid container and let him loose in it each morning to let him "hunt" his greens, but what else could I grow that he could eat too? I was told that any petal flower's leaves were good for him, but what about any other green plants we have in our home? Is there a toxic plant list for dragons? I think wandering jews are no good, but what about a spider plant or something like that? Can I make a little indoor greenhouse/garden for him and let him wander through it picking out his own greens that way? I don't know any other way to get him to eat them and I'm concerned that he's not eating a balanced diet although he's packing on the weight finally and he's eating his worms and drinking in his baths all the time.
Any ideas on how I can find out what plants are great/ok/bad? Is it a good idea to make a dandelion jungle that he can go in? We don't have any grass on our property (deck and patio only) so I have to grow it in containers which is not a big deal, we've got lots of empty aquariums I could use too. But I'd love to know what I can grow and what do you think I could grow year round indoors? We're in Ontario, Canada.
Thanks so much!!
