The moths drink nectar at that point. In the wild they drink from honeysuckle and petunia. You would have to give it nectar of some sort.

Hi,
The adult moths are safe to feed to your Beardie. As for feeding the moth, you will first need to contain in it, preferably in a large cage. They are very strong fliers and will beat up their wings @ night trying to fly off. My suggestion would be to feed to beardie as soon as it ecloses (comes out). I wrote an article, long ago, for a chameleon e-zine & in it I have pics of feeding a crippled moth, you can try similar. They have a very long proboscis (tongue), which can make it difficult to feed in captivity to the inexperienced - even for the experienced!

When making "nectar" use 4 parts water to 1 part sugar.

Another option is to put it into container in fridge (not freezer!) to temporarily chill him & make it easier to handle. Just offer to beardie.

Good luck!

You're welcome. Even though I wrote it 14 yrs ago(!) I reference it for keepers from time to time. There is one on silkworms, too.

The manduca moths are nice & hefty so a good meal :)

He must have literally just hatched them. Cuz when I was handling it, he was "wobbly." :) not even attempting to fly. Falling over when it walked

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
