Viv pics only thread

about a week back i finally got enough money/supplies to set up a seperate tank for my male, Trouble. i got him as a rescue along with an adult female in a 40 gallon tank. they had no UV and their basking spot was in the center of their enclosure. since they were in a pet store they only got 8 hours of 50watt light :( . the decor was poopy sand and a boring log, thats it :| .

it goes without saying they are in much better conditions now. Mayze(the female) gets to live in her own mansion(5' x 1.5' x 2'tall), while Trouble(my little hell-raiser) gets the smaller tank that they originally came in(3' x 1.5' x 1.5'tall).

well enough explaining, heres his new tank:

the floor is mostly tile/slate with a patch of outdoor carpet in the middle. the "brick wall" was made out of left over coving pieces from a tile job; i stacked them staggered so they were stronger, they just happen to look nice too.

the cave itself is actually a 5 gallon fishtank flipped on its side. i stacked tile on either side so the slate slab on top wouldnt be resting entirely on the glass aquarium. i folded up a hand towell and put in on the floor of the cave so he would stay warm at night; i know glass/stone can get pretty cold when the temps drop.

here is a pic of their two vivs in my bedroom with all the appropriate lighting; it was a mess before i had dragons  ...

Nice setup! I setup a shoe box for their "cave" but they never use it. I guess its because of the warm weather we have here.

I also like the marker on the glass saying "bearded dragon" lolz :-D

Are those real tiles on the side (Wall) of troubles viv?

thanks. nah, those two side walls are just covered by an aquarium background. ive been getting that question alot, i guess they look somewhat realistic with the heavy shadows in the pic.

the only reason i put them up really was to keep him from seeing Mayze tank. before i put them up he used to sit on the cool end and glass dance at Mayze; she would start doing submissive head bobs  .

Hahahaha. The reason I asked because the looks almost identical to the tiles I have:

I mite need to do that as well when the other tanks gets made :-D

hey... tell me what you think...

I went from this.. gray reptile carpet.. piece of crap rock which gave nothing but problems (crickets getting in it) and a wooden hide

To this : Tile, new basking spot, design in the back, fake plant, and the same hide

Muzikfreak,Your vivs are really nice.I like the stones and the tile :D Im curious though....why did you block all the vents? Are you sure there is enough airflow the way it is?

that first enclosure is serving as a crayfish rehab center  .

i brought home two legless and clawless crayfish from a petstore. they dont seem to fight, maybe because they get plenty of food and hiding spaces.

ill try to take a pic of them. im just so busy lately that i only post on my reptiles  . i still have that bullfrog too(the one with the turtle bite), hes grown alittle and is pretty laid back.

*EDIT* i didnt mention it, but the crayfish grew all their legs and claws back  ...

"clawless crayfish dont fight? go figure..."

G'day mates,

I just thought I'd throw my hat in as well. This is my recently completed 145g home built Vivarium.

Thanks for checking it out.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
