Hello kind people, if you haven't read my intro post here it is:
viewtopic.php?f=44&t=174583

I thought I'd make an actual post dedicated to my precious little guy! I have tons of pics (just from today!) that I hope to upload by tomorrow.
Gah! I want to hold him so bad, but I must let him adjust.

Has anyone else had this problem? :banghead:

It will take a couple weeks probably for your little guy to settle. My first baby that I bought from a local reptile store had no problems when I brought him home, never ran away from my hand or puffed/hissed. My most recent baby though who I bought online was very wary of me for about a week and a half. She would run away or open her mouth at me when ever I put my hand in the tank. I would just leave my hand in there until she closed her mouth, give her a little pet, then leave her alone. If I took her out it was either when she was in sleepy mode or just for a few minutes. It only took a couple weeks of this and then she wasn't afraid anymore, and now at 4 months old she's just as friendly as my other 2.

So just stick with it and he'll come around in no time :) It helps if the tank is in room that gets a decent amount of traffic too - our girls are in the living room, and my husband and I walking by the tank all the time I think definitely helped the little one get used to seeing us. Or if you spend a fair amount of time in your bedroom that would be a good place too.

He is very cute and your tank set up looks good! Looking forward to more pics :)

Thank you so much for the advice! My sister and I are always going in and out of our bedroom. One of us seems to always be in there, so he should calm down soon. :)
He ate some crickets for me though, so I know he will be fine! And thank you, I was really worried that something would be wrong in my tank. I want the best for him! :D

Could somebody Answer these questions for me? Even answering one would be helpful!

-the lady who sold me Sheldon said that I shouldnt handle him for a couple days, but when I tried giving him crickets in the cage they all hid. I managed to find them all, but I really want to feed him in a seperate bin. Can I pick him up for that?

- Sheldon has only eaten one cricket the whole day and shown no interest in his salad. I got him at around noon, shouldn't he have eaten more?

- he also has not pooped or peed so I'm a bit worried.

- I put some rocks in his tank and also had to hunt down the crickets in his tank. He didn't puff up or black beard but he did get darker stress marks. Will this be bad for him? I just want everything to be perfect hahaha :)

- He also licked up some calcium that had fallen off of the crickets, is this bad? It wasn't that much, he actually seemed to enjoy it.

Thanks for answering!

I will do my best!

-If he doesn't run away from your hand or hiss at you, I would say it's fine to handle him for little things like feeding.

-If it is his first day, then you have no reason to worry. Baby beardies go through relocation stress for up to 2 weeks. During that time they can be stressed and off their appetite. As he gets used to his home and you, he will begin to eat more. Babies are usually finiky with greens, so if he doesn't eat those, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep offering.

-If he hasn't eaten, he probably has nothing to poop. Keep an eye out tommorow.

-The rocks are fine-he will get used to them, but I would avoid the tank hunting from now on, as stated earlier, it's better to feed them in a seperate bin so they can hunt easily.

-My dragon licks calcium powder all the time. It won't harm him. :)

Thanks! Sorry for all the questions, I'm just so nervous! Six months of anticipation, I shouldn't be so stressed out though. :)
He is the cutest little guy ever! I cant wait until he is old enough to take outside! <3

It's fine. :D It's what I'm here for. And as soon as he settles in, you can take him out as long as you keep him in a plastic kiddy pool, or a tall walled cardboard box.

Good morning!!!
So Sheldon slept on his branch, tried to get a picture but it was too dark and I didn't want to stress him out more than he already was.

This morning I put him in a tank with dusted crickets, wouldn't eat any.

He currently has some dusted grapes in his tank because he seems to really like the calcium power.

He has been waving non stop at about anything. Good sign or bad sign?

Would love to hear how everyone else's babies are doing!

Hi! :D Sheldon is a cutie. You should add more pics. I know you have just got him but I love to see pics of other peoples dragons! :D Nim has never waved or head bobbed at me or his reflection. I don't have any background covering the walls. Anyways, welcome! :)

Thanks! I'll post some pictures today. :D
Nim is adorable by the way :p

And he ate! finally! I stunned the crickets and then held them up to him with tweezers, he went crazy!
I made him run around and hop to get the crickets though, I dont want him getting lazy or losing his will to hunt! I even got him to eat some grapes! I had to hold them with the cricket so he secretly ate them, it's not his kale but it's a start, :D

He also pooped! I know it's weird of me to be so excited, but I was worried sick about impaction.

So adorable and tiny! :) I remember when Nim was that small. Cute little dragon. Nim doesn't like fuzzies. I tried to give him a turtle and he was not happy about it. So I'm going to make him a bed soon. :)

Thanks, Nim is adorable. Every dragon I've seen on this site are adorable! :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
