Hey all! I've decided to give phoenix, my almost 11 month old, his own thread! Here are his bathtime pictures!

Question of the day: Does he look small for his age?

Fine, I'll smile...

Last one! And I mean it!

FINE, Take another picture...

(Does he look little in this picture? He's almost up to 15 inches when i roughly measured, meaning it was a little difficult to get exact.)

BTW, you may be able to notice this, but he's currently about to shed. so his colors aren't as vibrant as they normally are. When he goes through his shed, i'll post pictures of the end result. ;)

15" is not overly small for that age. They really don't stop growing until they are about 2 yrs old. Also some beardies are just shorter like people are too. He looks happy and that's what really matters. Beardies who grow fast typically eat you out of house and home. LOL Scorch was a pig when she was a baby and grew very fast, but Toki is not as big an eater and is growing very slowly for a tegu.

i see no one is really looking at the thread, i guess no one loves my phoenix.

at lunch time, he wouldn't eat his crickets, not sure what that was all about. i'll try again at 6 o'clock, hopefully he gobbles some up. after all, i got 2,000 crickets on wednesday! i cant let them all go to waste.

maybe because he ate at least 60, AND IM NOT EXAGGERATING, on thursday. he could be still full. i did bathe him earlier today for about a half hour or so, he pooped. so he's all good in the digestion area. then i took him outside to catch some warm New Jersey sun, and then sat with him for awhile while he fell asleep on my chest. I've probably had him out for a total of an hour or more today, which is a a long time for him. i'll probably take him out again in a little while.

just keeping anyone out there who cares updated, it also keeps me entertained. :D

Wow!!! Even for being about to shed, his colors are vibrant!! And I agree with what the others said...what matters is not size so much, but the fact that he LOOKS happy and healthy!! and judging by your pics...that is one happy beardie!!! Thanks for the pics!!

thanks for the input! i'll definately post up more pictures when he is done shedding! but those pictures were taken during bathtime, so they are a little exaggerated underneath the shed. But thanks for the help in his size, and he is a very happy little guy! keep checking back for pictures and more updates!

Thanks from Phoenix and John!

okay guys, anyone out there please help! phoenix STILL won't eat! i don't know what the problem is. He ate about 60 crickets on thursday, like i said, but he hasnt eaten anything since then. On friday i think i fed him 2 pieces of collars, but since then nothing! he wont touch his salad or the crickets. I gave him two baths friday, which he pooped in both of them (the poop was a littel broken up, not sure why) and i gave him a bath today, which he also pooped (more normal, all compacted together). I have no idea why he isnt eating, someone wanna help me out!?

Didn't you say he was shedding? Sometimes they get grouchy and refuse to eat at the end of their shed. IDK why. It just happens. Remember he is a lizard and can go days without food if he chooses so. It drives us crazy but I think they do it on purpose just to keep us on our toes.

yeah, i guess you're right. i just hope he knocks it off soon. i'm going to arizona on tuesday and the person who is taking care of him is only giving him veggies since i'll only be gone for a short time. I need him to eat at least something before then!

okay, so he ate! i fed him about 10 crickets, give or take. the only problem, i had to hand feed him each one. he was either too lazy to go after them, or smart enough to know that i'd hand feed them if he didnt. hmm...

Ok I am now starting to worry! I read so many posts of beardies eating a ton of crickets but mine has never done that! I think his max in one sitting is 10 large crickets. Heck he just started eating ore than once a day! Samson is lazy when eating. Sometimes I think he is waiting for the crickets to jump in his mouth. I swear he waits until they walk right up to him. He has to be really really hungry to actually go after them (ie-when he hasn't eaten in a day or two).

Anyway, I agree with the shedding thing. Samson seems to not want to eat when he is shedding...it happens every time. I also noticed that this time around he ate like a freakin pig right before he started to shed. I never seen him eat like I did right before this shed and now I can't get him to eat much.

Instead of hand feeding try to see what happens if you don't give him anything for a whole day and see if he pigs out the day after because he is so hungry. I did that once with Samson because he was refusing to eat and the day after he ate like he hadn't seen food for a month.

BTW Phoenix is gorgeous and I care :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
