I always meant to start Dobby a thread and now its too late  And my husband has just bought me these 2 beautiful babies from troyncindy on here :) They came with a colony of dubia, so if your looking for a baby beardie I'd def suggest checking out their ad in the for sale section on here :)

My hubby actually just pulled in, so let me go show off the babies to him, and stay tuned.. MANY more pics to come.

I havent posted pics of my babies in a few days... Ive been busy building their viv which I finshed yesterday :) >>the link for it is here >> viewtopic.php?f=75&t=178233.... But today is reason to celebrate, after a week of picking at their food, they woke up this morning and devoured the roaches!!! YAY!!! Tho throughout yesterday the entire bowl of greens disappeared  theres was only a few bites left... babies that eat their greens, im so proud :) And yesterday I had switched it up a bit, and gave them turnip greens instead of mustard greens, so i put the turnip greens back in there today and we'll see what happens :) Im pretty sure Athena is fixing to shed, she gotten all dark and dull...and now that theyve decided to start actually eating hopefully well be getting lots of sheds and growing...

This is Athena, just waking up, Persephone had done got outta bed by the time I grabbed the camera...

Persephones eye caught the roaches 1st, but after maybe a minute or two, Athena must have decided she should eat too before her sister ate them all! lol...

Now If we can just get rid of those stress marks...ugh. And to think once the new viv gets all aired out and rdy, we'll have to go thru the relocation stress all over again :( Athena Ive seen without the stress marks, Persephones have gotten rlly light but still there.

Man they are looking good! I love those full tummies. We are still dealing with stress marks after almost 4 weeks! Only when he is in his tank. But I am like you, I getting ready to move him to a bigger tank, then what ? Back to scratch ??? Grrrrrr :banghead:

Yea it sucks, lol... Ive been carrying them in here and showing them the new tank, so maybe it wont be a completely "new" idea. I think once its all aired out Ill probably put them in it to explore for maybe 15 mins a few times a day...and do that for a few days b4 "the big move".. Im hoping I can make the transition without too much stress especially since we just went a whole week nibbling our food and they just started eating real good. Altho in putting turnip greens in there again today obvisiously one of them was upset with them, cause I had a nice "surprise" in the bowl a while ago, Hopefully they wont continue to use the food dish as a potty... weird little things, lol.

They are adorable! I'm sorry about Dobby, I know how much it hurts to loose a beardie. I still miss all the 5 beardies we've lost since August of 2006. I think it's good that you got 2 new ones. You are correct, they won't replace Dobby, you will still miss him but you will love the new girls just as much.

Yea I love these 2 little gals..BUT Id still rather go back and still have Dobby... And its CRAZY how dif their personalities are.. Dobby was always so easy going, I never had any trouble with him trying to really run off or anything, He was content to sit and chill with me or the kids, yes eventually hed want to start to roam but for the most part hed just explore who ever he was sitting with... But he also came from a pet store where he had no UVB at all so I guess theres a chance he was a bit older than I thought... These little gals are a handful! But after the little one got away from my hubby (maybe it scared her as much as him!), now I can hold her and shes chill (she even almost went completely to sleep on me last night) Tho she doesnt do the little butt wiggle Dobby did :( BUT Athena... my goodness I have my hands full with her! If she senses one ounce of freedom shes going to try to run. Which when I hold them I hold them loose until I feel them tense then I secure them and tell them they cant go off running around by themselves til theyre big dragons (lol, not that they understand my rant, but I still tell them) Then Ill loosen again, repeat. IDK Im trying to get them to see I trust them not to run away, if that makes sense. And she keeps giving me go to heck looks! LOL. I just keep telling her well I like you. I swear she has an attitude problem  Shes also fixing to have her 1st shed with me, so maybe that why she has the attitude? I put them to sleep last night in the shirt I wore yesterday, Im hoping that may hlp a little bit... I did that with Dobby right off the bat. On the plus side neither have tried to even act like theyre going to bite me. That was the only issue I had with Dobby at first, when Id reach in his cage hed beard me, turn pancake and sideways at me, lol (gosh I miss him) And since he was my 1st reptile (well besides my sons nasty red eared sliders) of course he scared the crap outta me, but I decided it was better to be bit by a baby dragon than a big one and persisted, he only nipped me once (after i had painted my nails a bright color) and it didnt hurt at all. I also RLLY miss the head bobbing! these gals wave and wave and wave.. but the head bobs were just sooo cute. I may have to eventually get another male, def not to breed with. But not ANY time soon... maybe after my girls grow up.

Athena sounds somewhat like Miss Y. She was what I call ornery. She always wanted to chew my hair (she and Miss O were adults when we got them) and when I told her that can't be healthy for her and told her 'no' she would look at me telling me she'd wait until I forgot and then she'd go around the back of my head and do it again (chew my hair). She never stopped that until she got to feeling bad. We knew nothing about the necessity of proper heat, the proper size tank, uvb. We did take them outside every day for at least an hour which they loved. One time they had been outside for an hour and they were back in the window. I had to go outside again and said 'hi' to them through the window. Miss Y gave me a look, saying "how dare you go outside and not take me with you!" I sure do miss her. She wasn't as active as your Athena is but Athena is still a baby. As they grow up they get less active. I'm glad you are enjoying them. It does help to get another one after you loose one for you and me anyway. That's why we got Redrock and Sandstone because we'd lost both Miss O and Miss Y within two months of each other.

Im srry, to lose 2 that close to eachother must have been sooo hard. Me getting more is thanks to my husband.. I was soo upset when I lost Dobby before the night was out he was looking at dif breeders, lol. It is hlping me a lot. Of course I still think about him all the time, but its way better not to see his tank empty, altho since I had to rush and build a new bigger viv, it will be empty again...as soon as the 4x2x2 airs out good. But I think its being claimed and when we go to the local reptile show later this month it may become a king snakes home -_- As my son wants a pet, and we need to rehome his red eared sliders cause they basically go ignored. But thats my fault, they are just so unsanitary in my eyes and I worry about them biting the kids, so i dont rlly allow them to come out much. Anywho thats a whole dif issue. Athena is something...I hope she warms up to me soon, lol. I feel like a twisted person, like " I WILL MAKE U LOVE ME!!!" :laughhard: Persephones gotten to where she seems like she wants attention, and when I get her out Athena watches the whole time with her nose in the air, then when I open the tank to put Pers back in, shell turn her back to me... Im wondering if once I get them separated shes going to act different? I figure Ill still give them baths together? So they know hey theyre both still here, and then when they get bigger I can have them out together, this is assuming Pers stays a girl... I keep checking, and she arms waves alot, havent seen any head bobbing from either, so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Congratulations on your new little ones! They are both adorable. I myself just got 2 new babies a few weeks ago. I had forgotten what a handful they can be at this age. I also have a male and female that are just over a year old. I was so sorry to read about you losing Dobby. My heart breaks for you. I know these 2 new babies will fill part of that hole left in your heart from Dobby.
Enjoy them while they're still tiny cuz you know as well as I do that they don't stay that way for long.

AND NOW Persephone....

Her weight was actually down 5g from the day b4 :( musta had to use the potty when I took the other one, lol..

But they are both still eating well and growing, Athena shed her tail a few days ago, but were still waiting for the body to shed so she loses the #4 on her butt, lol. And the new viv is still airing out (the wait is killing me) But I hope to have them in there by the end of next week. Thatll be 2 weeks airing out and a few days visiting the viv to maybe get them accustomed to it b4 I just toss them in there. Also I had no idea the scale was freakin dusty! gawh! the joys of living on a dirt road!

Athena has one looooonnnnng tail. It looks like it's about 6 inches long or thereabouts. Her body is about what, 3.5 to 4 inches and the tail is 6 or 6.5 inches wow. It looks like Persephone is just about 2 inches shorter than Athena. they both are very cute.

Is it insanely long?? After getting these two I figured Dobby had had a tail nip cause his was a lot shorter and didnt rlly come to a point like theirs does.. And I was having trouble taking the pics, the hubby had alrdy went to bed so I had the bright idea to lay my daughters sleeping bag on the floor and take their pics on it...HA Persephone was like yay the floor and kept trying to get away! But yea Id say around 2 inches, theres like 3 weeks between them, Athena was from the first clutch that hatched the week of 7/14 and Persephone hatched the week of 8/4... Ill post more pics in a day or so.. Ive been taking length and weight pics everyday keeping track and I have an awesome idea for when they are older... so in a year or so that project will be complete, lol.

*edited- they are 3 weeks apart, I was mistaken when I had said 2*

Some beardies have really long tales, some have shorter tales but if Dobby's tail didn't come to a point, he probably did have a tail nip. Miss O had a tail nip but she did fine, until she got really sick and we couldn't do anything for her. So, long tales are normal and so are short tales, it depends on the beardie. But now that I know both beardies are about two weeks apart, there size difference is normal. I'm glad you got them. They are adorable! I can tell you love them as much as you loved Dobby.

I think he did have a nip, but a small one. I also think he was a lot older than I thought. Im glad I know the hatch dates of these 2. Altho, last night I had my 1st freak out and was worried about them fighting  (hurry up and air out new viv!) Persephone (the little one) is a mean booger. She likes to get to the tippy top point of the hammock (which technically isnt even rlly under the basking spot) But I was taking turns getting them out, and when I put Pers back in, Athena had gotten to the top spot, Pers climbed up and over her and was using her back legs to "kick" her out of the way! So mean! But Athena just let her do it. And wasnt acting like she cared besides her beard turned a little dark... I got up and moved them back... Put Athena back on the top and moved Pers to the other side of the hammock. I told my hubby that if they were human kids Id whip the little ones butt! Why is the little one dominate over the big one? I figured it would be the other way around! And I keep checking and Pers is still female. And Im yet to see ANY head bobbing from either of them.. SO still pretty sure I have 2 females.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
