The Life of Saphira! New viv pics!

I decided to make a topic about Saphira and her life as she grows up, and a place to put all the pictures i take!


First things first, i finally finished her permanent Viv! Was given somemoney for my birthday so i went shopping for some stuff to fill up the space.


Her viv is a 4'x2'x2', made out of melamine (got the plans from crossfiredragons).

Enough talk tho, heres the pics!

Heres the entire viv:

It has sliding glass doors, i personally hated trying to reach down into something.

On the left side i have a thermometer that measures her basking temp:

And on the right is the thermometer for the cool side:

On the hot side of the tank i have a little stick that leads to a stone structure thingy, which leads to her hammock, and her log is under that and has a blanket for her to sleep on:

In the middle i made a little rock wall that has a small cave in the center, got those from my garden and yes they were sterilized and baked in the oven, and then her veggie dish and water dish are in the middle as well:

Then on her coolside i have another little cave with some fake leaves around it, she seems to like to climb on the leaves lol, also i put a dragon statue in the other corner, i thought it looked cool lol.

So this morning my order of 400 PW's came in from ghanns cricket farm, i picked the morning delivery option so i wouldnt have to go out and get crickets. Well i walk back into my room, and saphira is lounging on her rock wall, well damn....the second i unpacked that little black container, she saw and it ran straight into the glass!!! Then she started glass dancing back and forth without taking her off the little black box of juicy num nums. I have to say i was amazed, i had only fed her PW's for the first couple days i had her, then it was crickets up until now. Who would have geussed that she would have recognized the little box and know what it was for.....amazing.

Well i just had to share that, it got me really excited lol.

So Saphira has been acting a bit odd today, when i got home from school in the afternoon i went to hold her and she did her usuall thing, the problem was when i put her back in the viv, she basically stayed in the exact spot where i put her down at for a good 10 minutes. from what i saw she didnt even turn her head. of course i was sitting right outside of the viv so she could have been looking at me, but im not sure. She doesnt appear to be lethargic or anything, she will just stay in one spot for very long periods of time. She has also been hiding in her log quite alot over the past few days, but not sleeping or anything, everytime i look in there shes just curled up with her eyes open. Its definetly starting to worry me, and im not too sure what to do. Im hoping its just a side effect of her shed and everything will go back to normal once its all gone.

If anyone has any ideas id greatly appreciate the advise.

I think it's the shed too if that helps...

So i was giving saphira her dinner of a couple dozen pheonix worms and some collard greens, well she tore through those in about 2 minutes and gave me such a cute look i had to take a picture of it lol:

"can i have some more......pweeeaase!?"

i dont know how i could deny such an adorable face lol

So the waiting of Saphira's shed continues, im getting really anxious because shes getting a really good orange color on her head, so i cant wait to see what is on her body under the shed. Its also appears to be brighter than i remember on her back, so if its this bright now i cant imagine what its going to look like once she gets rid of all the dead skin. Ive been expecting to walk in at any moment and see her having exploded out of her old skin, but i think shes playing games on me and wants me to anxious as hell :? But we will see, only time can tell

What a cute beardie!!! I also love her tank! My bigger one is in a pittiful 20 gal long rght now :shock: , and my baby is on the 10 gallon....For christmas im asking for an 75 gal or bigger tank, so (both girls) i can house them together when they are the same size.

thanks! the viv was basically my birthday present, my dad got all the supplies and helped me put it together, was alot of fun!

Thats so cool! For my birthday i asked for some art supplies, haha. but now with christmas comming up, i'd love to get some new things for my pets. (i have 27, no, i dont have fish) I absouutly love designing the cages, its propably my favorite part, besides the sctual beardie!

wow 27! thats a lot lol! right now i only have 2, a dog and a beardie although i do plan on getting another beardie in the future. id love to get a couple snakes but until i move out thats not an option. Theres only 2 things my mom is against me getting, cockroaches (feeders) and snakes lol.

haha, im glad my moms cool with it, ya know, as long as they dont escape. my snakes have a few times though. :roll: Im much to much an animal lover! there is practicly no room for my laptop here in my room :lol:

that is pretty cool, my mom is squimish around anything thats not furry, it took awhile before she would hold saphira and even then it had to be on her shirt no where near her skin. and i think just the though of a snake in the house would drive her up the walls, would probally keep waking up making sure it wasnt in her bed lol. Its going to be trouble soon though, im picking up a second job at petsmart and being around all the reptiles is going to be a huge temptation for me, i forsee me getting kicked out pretty soon lol!

haha. Ya, its the same with my friends mom, after my love for anything scaley, my friend decided to buy a bearded dragon when i got my second one at a reptile expo. But then her mom would go no where near it, its hilarious. Also, i will be walking arouround, and if the door bell rings or something, i will have her on my shirt and the people freke out. Once, my shirt was the same colors as my beardie and it took my mom a good 5 minutes to see her on my shirt. Its so funny how scared people can get :roll:
