Weird discoloration

In the past few weeks my mother's classroom dragon had turned a bright, BRIGHT orange and was quite lethargic, not eating or drinking well, etc. This week he seems to be a bit more energetic, but is still a very odd color orange. Does anyone know exactly why this would happen?

No, there isn't. Like I said, it's a classroom pet, and they aren't allowed to leave the school.

Could you have your mom take a camera to school? Sometimes beardies change color as they grow. Mine started off a duller lime/orange color and now is a much brighter orange with almost no trace of the lime.
