I agree just find a nice log or branch outside and bake it I the oven for 45 minutes or so. I baked mine for 45 minutes at 300 degrees. It's crazy how much money pet stores and reptile stores want for logs/branches.
Yay Yay Yay improvement!
It's great to hear he's capable of moving quite well.
As mentioned, do be careful with the water dish, and be sure to remove it at night.
One of my longest dragon decor pieces is a branch I found out on the railroad tracks by my old apartment. It was handed down to my youngest dragon and just baked in the oven for about an hour, and any subsequent cleanings it needs.
My chameleon enclosure uses branches from my maple tree outside. Those were too big for the oven so were soaked in a bleach solution for 24 hours in my tub, followed by soaking in just water for 48 hours after. At a store those pieces would probably run close to $30 a pop but were free with just a little time and effort.
Dry driftwood straight off a beach will be fine, not likely to be anything on or in it that's going to be a problem, he might even appreciate licking it for the salt.
A dropped branch from the bush will be more of an issue (with bugs , termites , spiders etc).
As already suggested , nothing that's going make him climb too high.
I regret to inform you all that my little man cheech didn't make it. He passed at about 7 pm on 8/01/17. Although I only had cheech for a short time I really loved him. RIP Cheech I hope you're in a better place.
I'm so sorry....the severe neglect he endured before you got him took it's toll. In his condition there was very little that could be done, even though you tried the right things. I can imagine how sad you are after going out + buying things to make a good home for him. He didn't deserve this and neither did you. All my sympathy to you.
I am so very sorry and understand the heart break.. we lost our Harley baby while on vacation We JUST got a new baby yesterday so give yourself some time to recoop
Such a sad life for this little guy, but at least he was loved by us all and by you personally during his last days. Maybe someday down the road you'll be able to get a nice healthy beardie to love. You have learned much about these amazing creatures in a very short time, and just how attached you can get to them. Thank you so much for giving this little guy a chance.
I'm so sorry to hear
We were all really hoping he would pull through, but by the time he was in your care he was already critical. At least the last few days of his life were in comfort and with love, and you did everything you could.
If you do decide to put all that new equipment to good use with a healthy new buddy, please be sure to properly sanitize everything. You deserve to have a healthy dragon to care for
