It went okay I think! She laid 17 eggs in total and it took around 3 hours (maybe a little less). I just got back and she seems to be doing okay, just resting. I'm hoping her appetite comes back soon but I read it can take a day or two. I'm hoping she's done with eggs. Is there anyway to know?
Edit: Just tried feeding her and she's very hungry and eating a lot! I'm so relieved!
That is good news she has hopefully laid the rest of the eggs. There really isn't any way to
know for sure, even with ultrasound of x-ray, but most of the time they are able to get them all
out at once. Her appetite should come back pretty soon so she will start gaining some weight
back. How much did she eat?
It sounds like she is bouncing right back now.

Hi Tracie! Yes, I think she has laid them all because she's not as restless and her appetite has come back. She's now eating her vegetables every day, in addition to when I feed her bugs. She's been very hungry lately which makes sense. Before she would never want her vegetables. Overall things have been pretty great.
One thing the vet mentioned to me on the phone is to consider having her spayed so we don't have to deal with all this again. However, I'm not sure if that's something I would be comfortable with. I just feel like it might be too risky and now I think I know how to recognize when she's going to lay eggs.
Hey everyone. Liz had a huge appetite after laying the eggs (which makes sense because she didn't eat for two whole weeks) but it's definitely slowed down since then. Yesterday she only had a bite of veggies and three dubia roaches. I'm grateful she is still eating at all. What's a bit strange is that she's been pooping every day, multiple times a day. They're usually on the small size, and sometimes her second poop of the day will just be a white urate. She's also been incredibly active, and she will not sit still. I'm wondering if she needs to lay more eggs. I keep putting her in her laybox but she just keeps walking around. Nothing urgent happening, but I'm a bit nervous as I'm leaving for one week this Friday and will have my family take care of her.
You mentioned the vet saying having her spayed ---I guess it would be up to you but I would not--- I hear its very hard on them and not worth the risk ----- I think Tracie or AHBD would best be the ones to chime in on this topic

She may already have another clutch to lay soon. I had females lay within 3 weeks of their previous clutch. Just take good care of her + when it's time to lay she should get on with it. Keep her hydrated too.

Is it normal for her to be super active even after laying? She doesn't want to lay anymore eggs, but she won't sit still since I've put her back in her cage. I'm nervous there could be more eggs coming, and she's going to be with my family starting tomorrow at their place. I really wish I wasn't going away but unfortunately I have no choice.
Liz is already showing signs of laying a third clutch. It's been about a two weeks since her last one. Is this normal? And is it possible that she will never stop constantly laying eggs? I'm worried about her health if she continues to lay every few weeks like this, especially because she has MBD.
Some of them lay several clutches like that. I'd imagine it would be exhausting for her and deplete her calcium supply after a while though. Watch for signs of her struggling or getting exhausted. If she starts to show signs of problems or if this continues for a long time, I would probably consult with the vet again.
Yes, some do lay multiple clutches like that. Many years ago one of mine laid 8 clutches one year , somewhere around 300 eggs. Just keep her well fed + calcium supplemented.
