Hi my 18 month old has not been eating for a week or so but I wasn't too worried as he quite often just has a couple of mouthfuls of veg.
When I weighed him on sunday he had lost 30grams in 2 weeks.
I was going to worm him on monday but before I went to get some he threw up everywhere if I hadnt seen it for myself I would have said he had pooped Diarrhoea with lumps in. I collected in a container and took him straight to the vets.
The vet looked at the sick and said that it was regurgitated veg with possibly the lining of his stomach he gave me baytril the first dose he injected
Today I managed to give him the next dose orally but only by putting puréed apple baby food on his nose first and then whilst mouth was open putting in the Baytril 0.1ml.
about an hour and a half later he gagged and bought up liquid and apple puree consistency but it is very dark brown almost black
I have phoned the vet and I am waiting fot a call back
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can anyone think of anything that could help
How much does your dragon weigh? Do you know the concentration of the Baytril?
It could be too much Baytril, that medication is very strong & can make them sick sometimes. Do you have any probiotics on hand right now to help soothe his little tummy?
Is his beard black right now? I would give some extra fluids as well, since he has lost vital fluids & electrolytes through his vomiting. I hope he can hold it down, so, give small amounts spread out throughout the day. You can use pedialyte & dilute it to 1 part pedialyte to 3 parts water so it isn't too strong.
Hi he weighs 421grams....he was 451grams 2 weeks ago
the Baytril is 2.5% and I have to give him 0.1ml once a day for 10 days so in total he will have 1.0ml
the vet gave him an injection of it yesterday andI gave the first oral one today
being a bit thick here but do you mean probiotic yoghurt??? I am in the uk if that makes a difference
Hi, I am from the UK too. I use Alpro soya yoghurt as a probiotic, you can find it in most supermarkets...hope this helps. Good luck to you and your baby x
I think the Baytril is harsh on their systems and can upset their tummies, that's why it is good to give the probiotic. It is also important to give loads of baths to keep hydrated.
