Just bathed my beardie. She has a swollen rear ankle and a red hard lump on her ankle. She is active walking and has not appeared to be in any pain or discomfort but what the heck is it!
That doesn't look so hot. Maybe it's some sort of infection starting. How long has it looked like that? It might be a good idea to have a vet check it out and treat appropriately.
An insect bite! That’s better than what I thought. I was thinking it was possibly gout. It’s a hard lump. I’m not sure what it would have been from. A rogue superworm I presume. Anything I should put on it or give her in the meantime while I ask the vet for some antibiotics
I'd definitely get a reptile vet take a look, will likely take a small needle aspiration (or try to) to see what's going on, and will need to be drained and probably the infected tissues debrided surgically to be sure if it's abscess or some kind of infection filled lump.
In a human it'd be called cellulitis of the leg which can be very serious and have very serious results if not treated promptly.
I wouldn't risk waiting as dragons are very skilled at hiding it when then are feeling ill, until it's almost too late when they loose the abililty to disguise the fact.
How long has it looked like this?
It does look like an insect bite to me also. You say a superworm, or could it have been
a cricket?
Do you have a vet you can take him to for some help with that? I don't think it's gout, if
this is the only extremity being affected & there isn't any other signs/symptoms of gout thus
far.
How is his appetite, is he eating normally?
I would go ahead & get some iodine/betadine & dilute that down until it resembles weak tea
to clean the area. You can use an antibiotic ointment on the foot to help keep it clean & to
ward off more infection.
