I was cleaning out jacks tank and before i knew it the cat jumped in grabbed him and ran off with him. It took 3 of us to get jacks out of the cats mouth. Here are some photos of him, he has two wounds on his belly and one on his neck
here are the photos of his belly
here is his neck
here is laying down, seems like his belly is swollen but not sure
neosporin or a diluted bedadine bath seem to be what I'm coming up with from doing searches on the site.. if you use the neosporin use it without a pain reliever. I'm just getting this stuff from searching other threads, I don't have any first hand experience in this.
yes i did call one, they said they could see if he had internal bleeding and if he did there was not much they could do due to his size. They are not deep enough for stiches, so its just a waiting game and letting him know im here right now
Aside from a vet visit to determine the extent of the injuries this is my suggestions......
I would 1st off soak him in the diluted betadine solution and put the ointment on the wounds to prevent infection (One never knows what was on the cats teeth)
Then i would remove everything from the tank so he cant climb or fall in case there is internal injuries. Put down a folded towel he can lie on and lower the UVB bulb and make sure the basking temp is accurate.
Ensure he is being hydrated propperly, if he is bleeding internally fluids will help him out a lot till he can be treated by a vet.
Beardies are hardy little creatures and i really hope he pulls through this OK
Oh I am so sorry about the attack!
The vet is right though, if there is internal bleeding there is not anything that can be done since he is too small.
Try to keep him calm as much as possible & keep his wounds as clean as possible. If you have loose substrate in his tank, take that out & replace it with paper towels to keep it cleaner.
As suggested, treat his wounds with antibiotic ointment after a nice bath.
Keep him warm over night, around 80 or so, to help his immune system.
Let us know how he is doing.
If my cat grabbed Starkiller I don't know what I would do. I'm praying Jacks made it through the night okay. Update us when you get a chance and hang in there!
