How old usually is a beardie when they stop shedding?
My girl is shedding atm n havn a horrible time, its taking a while and shes getting very annoyed, its taking a lot longer than it ever has in some areas and she seems to b miserable.Atm its happening around her eyes and its not real nice seeing her like this. She is over 21/2 yrs old, when will she stop growing and reach her full size? And when she reaches her full size will she still shed old skin now n then???.
Poor bugger lol.

Try giving her a warm bath and put something with a rough surface in with her so she can rub against it. I am fairly certain that they never stop shedding, though it may not be as often, but I may be wrong. The bath should help loosen up the old skin and make it easier to come off. Once she's wet enough try to gently take some of the shedding off yourself. As I said, be gentle. You may have to give her a few baths before it all comes off.

Thanks, i have been giving her extra baths as i thought that it may help. She already has branches and a large rock in her home that she rubs on, poor girl. Its gone from around her eyes now so shes a little happier.

Sorry to hear your beardie is having a rough time shedding.

First of all....beardies never stop shedding. They slow down and do not shed as often when they are older. It can take quite a while for them to shed also. My girl is almost 6 yrs old and is starting a new shed as we speak.

The frequent soaks will help. You can also try a very soft toothbrush to gently rub them with while soaking. Please....never pull the shedding skin off! You can damage the new scales underneath, especially if it is not ready to come off.

Oh, that looks like a yucky shed. Poor girl!! When mine have a hard time, I take a leave from my Aloe Vera plant and rub the juices on them. I put it on at bedtime and bath them first thing in the morning to get it off and reapply that evening. It really shortens the length of the shed or it does with my male. He's over 3 y/o and is in his 2nd complete shed since he woke up from brumation.

Be careful with rough things to help with shedding. My youngest dragon rubbed the bottoms of her back feet on a brick I had in her tank when she was shedding and she gave herself a sore on each back foot.

When I said gentle take the shed off yourself, I did not mean pull. What I meant is you could rub the shedding scales with your fingers from head to tail, never try to aid her going from tail to head. Imagine someone pulling your finger nail back and you have an idea as to why you don't won't to do that. And this is what my friend showed me to do. She has a beardie, Zion, who has always seemed to have a hard time shedding. She found that gently rubbing it off helped.

Sorry if I wasn't clear before. I was concerned with my own beardie, Gizmo, and tired.

Thanks everyone.....Her shed seems to b near the end now. It has been the longest/toughest by far. Ive been giving her extra baths to soften her shed n it does seem to help. The poor girl scratches like a dog to try n get some off herself lol and then looks at me as if to say "Help".Its only left in a few areas and her colors r starting to come back.

When one of my boys are having trouble with a difficult shed ( and they get bathed 3-4 times a week, one daily for poo) I place a drop or two of canola oil in the bath, and wallah ! Shed comes off easily !.
