I just changed her tank surroundings and she has a new hide in the cold side of the tank and she went into it and hasn't come out since. This is the 5th day she has been in there.she is 1 year and 3 months old. I am wondering if she might be brumating or has eggs....but i'm a little worried. She has a 50 gal tank with heat lamp 100 w powersun uv. with another bar lamp that just rests on cold side for light. she is 1 year and 3 months old.
basking spot 100-105
hot side 85-90
cool side 75-80
12 inches from it but its temp is right where it should be. does it need to be closer? will it burn her?
mvb?
zoo med digital thermometer
she has never laid eggs before. never seen that happen. however i was gone for vacation a little while back she didn't defecate for about 6 or 7 days and she finally did after i gave her a few baths. i was feeling her belly and there were two hard sides. one on the left and one on the right.
she is really hard to see so i cant really see her beard and from what i can see of her tail it looks normal. on the darker side
southern California. so she shouldn't be brumating
I have been using it for 3 months.
yes it does
she just defecated right before i put her into her tank after changing it and cleaning it. she went instantly into the hide and hasn't come out.
honestly i have not taken her out because i wanted to let her do her thing but now im really worried
When you check the basking temp, are you waiting at least 45 min before getting the final reading?
I think it would be a good idea to have a fecal checked.
When was her last poop, 5 days ago?
I think it would be a good idea to take her out daily and give her a bath at least. That way you can check on her, her coloring, behavior, etc. You might also want to try hand feeding her to see if she will eat.
Applesauce is a good idea and will help her poop as well as the bath. If her coloring is off and she doesn't act right when you take her out, I think a vet visit would be a good idea to rule some things out.
are vets for reptiles expensive?
and i took her out just now tried the bath and she wont even sit in it she will get out instantly..
and i put her down and she walked to the corner of the house and is just laying there now...she does that alot but why is she always trying to hide
I actually would put her in the bath again, test the water by the inside of your wrist to make sure the temp is right and try feeding her some applesauce. Does the top of her head look flat like she might be dehydrated?
What and how much did she eat 5 days ago? What was her poop like then, any difference in the way it looked and did it smell bad?
