Otherwise she seems fairly ok poo a little looser than normal but Yodas belly is really swollen. She has eaten but I haven't noticed it swell this much after eating before. She poos daily. She drinks even has the odd bit of salad and gets a daily bath. Shes active and looks otherwise fine but ought i be worried?

Also when I bought her I know the toe thing is an alarm bell they looked ok but have since noticed she has an abnormally long one she has little or no use in but the others are fine it doesnt seem to bother her. Should I get her checked over?

Thanks Newbie besotted slave to Yoda approx 16 weeks ish old ( bought as a grown on the week of christmas)

ok so her eating is fine?
her poop is a little loose? ok now is it real smelly also? any blood at all? runny poop could indicate parasites or worms, its best to take a fecal sample to a herp vet to get it checked.
when you say her belly looks swollen, can you feel any abnormal lumps anywhere at all? if shes pooping, runny or not, then i wouldnt have thought shes impacted, do you mean shes like a balloon, does it looks like shes gonna pop? because when beardies are having a stretch, intimidated, scared or threatened they blow themselves up to make themselves look bigger, is this what could be happening? or is her belly coonstantly swollen? if its constant then i wouldnt have thought it to be this. could you post a pic by any chance so we could get a better idea what you mean?
its great shes eating a bit of greens, you want them to start eating their greens early ready for when their diet is mainly vegetation, but you dont want them refusing livefood because they prefer their greens, lol, keep up the baths also, thats great.

My first thought is that it could be a couple of things.
Beardies will puff their belly out when in water to make them float. When they are mad or stressed they will also gulp air to appear larger. These usually subside within a short time.
If the puffiness is not reducing and he is pooping ok it is probably best to get a fecal done. When my beardie had a swollen tummy it turned out she was loaded with coccidia.
Good luck and let us know how he's doing :D

Her belly is constantly swollen she is perfectly relaxed it is not because she feels initmidated or anything like that. Shes active when handled but lays about in the viv. No signs of anything in her poop blood worms or anything. How much veg should she be eating she eats a bit every day. Whats the best veg to give I have been giving dandelion, chicory, kale and romaine lettace in variation. I must admit I am limited to what I have available.
though drinks pretty well especially when she has a bath but I am told they dont normally drink much they ought to get it from the food.
I will try to take a photo but this has come up in the last 24-48 hours so its been quick.
Thanks alot xxxxxxx

Hello,

I wanted to comment on the long toe. That is a normal looking toe, they all have a long toe like that, so, no worries on that.
Are her stools runny or smelly?
What type of feeders is she getting?
Do you use calcium supplementation?
What type & brand of UVB lighting do you use, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil light?
What type of basking light are you using?
Perhaps you should take a fecal sample to the vet, or take her into the vets for a fecal to check for worms & or parasites.

The stools were softer than normal but not runny like liquid and not smelly.
She is only having crickets and salad right now. I was intending on introducing worms and things about now as she is around 4 months was told to wait till she was a little older though confess I now forget where I got that info from maybe the store or something I read.
I have a 10.0 UVB tube I was using a 100w bulb for basking but it was not getting hot enough so started using a CHE from posting previously on here. Does it have to be a light for the light or is the heat the important thing as long as its with the UVB?
She is having a calcium and muti vit powder supp on her crix i put a little on daily is that too much?
Also I just upped her crix intake as she was eating them quickly and looking for more she has about 14-20 a day across 2 feeds. I bought her as a grown on which is about 10-12 weeks on 20th december.

She has a habit of pooing in the bath and a couple of times its sort of disintigrated into little black bits (looks like crushed crix shell andprobably is but and soz for tmi but I looked really close yesterday and saw nothing bloody or that made me go what on earth is that though i am no vet and parasites are obviouly tiny so I will take her tom first thing when they re open. Only thing that worries me is being in the UK where they arent that big on reps my vets like all the others round here are not specialists just someone who has been on " a course" does not fill me with confidence.
Can anyone suggest som other salad to try what do you all give? I have looked on the beautiful beardie sight and read a few books but some info is contradictory.

i dont know if this is relevant but she has just finished a major shed and grown a whole inch at least in a few weeks. ( she was a bit smaller than our tv remote when we got her hense the not so exact science and she is wasnt keen on staying still to be measured)

She normally loves to be handled and explore when she is not in her viv she is really active. She was yesterday too but appears a bit different but not sure if its me being a paranoid mummy as hubby disagreed and said she seemed fine. He agreed her belly was big but thought it was cos she had eaten. She has the look of being pregnant which did not seem normal to me. Her belly was soft I was gentle but she got really figity though I guess if it was cos she is full she would anyway like we would. If she sees me or my kids she comes to the glass of the viv and scrambles and wave till we get her out for a cuddle and play though when she has eaten or is sleepy or had her contact fix she seems happy in her viv.

Sorry to give so much info I am just clutching at straws hoping someone who has more experience will pick something up from the info and have a eureaka moment like stop doing that do this.

Thanks for all your help i appreciate it I have been up watching her half the night with worry

im so sorry your having a hard time with your baby, i have 2 dragons and thught they were somewhat hardy but all i have found is they love to stress you out for no apparent reason, lol, thats what makes them unique.
ok so shes eating around 14-20 a day, at 16 weeks she should be fed ideally 3 times a day, obviously i understand thats not always the case as of other commitments, work, etc. each feeding you should let her eat as much as she wants in a 15 minute sitting, they could eat up to 100 crix a day!
her pooping in the bath isnt a bad thing really, more hygienic and easier to clean and yes it does somewhat go all weird, lol.
with the lighting and heating, you have to have a white basking light in conjunction with your uv as it may do her some damage, i personally use a reptisun 10.0, 60watt white basking light and a ceramic heat emitter.
the calcium she should be getting once a day for 5-6 days a week, the multi-vits once a day for 2-4 days a week.
i too am from the uk so understand your frustration, in the us they call some salads different to what we call them, lol,for live food i would feed her crix, locusts, butter worms on occasion as can be a tad fatty, wax worms maybe one or two a week as they are extremely fatty.
for greens i rotate mine so they have a couple of different greens every week, it doesnt matter how much greens shes eating as anything is great for her age, offer them daily whether she touches them or not, i use spring greens, fresh greens, pak choi, cress, watercress, pea shoots and rocket, mine love their rocket, you can get all of those things from tescos, sainsburys or asda, or probably any major food store will stock those.
as for her belly i think as long as shes got a healthy appetite, her weights remaining stable or climbing, her pooping and shedding are all fine and shes not showing constant stress marks or a black beard then i wouldnt worry, she may be stressed even if you dont think she is and shes not showing typical signs, like i said they love and know how to freak us out! she may simply be puffing herself out. also a happy healthy dragon should have a round porky belly, its what they are known for, lol.
is there any chance you could post a pic so we could get a proper look at what exactly you mean about her belly?
i hope i have helped you out some more.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
