I found a little baby dragon in my females lay box that I must have missed when I cleared out her eggs last time she laid. It has a little bit of what looks like intestines or stomach where it's belly button would be and I had one before with same problem die on me a year or so ago. The vets had closed half an hour before I found it and I don't know what to do as the vets are open tomorrow. Will it be ok to wait that long or should I try and push it in or leave it or what? It is drinking at the minute and I have it on slightly damp toilet paper and is runninng around inside the box drinking but will he/she be able last untill tomorrow?

Do you have a picture of the belly? When was this baby hatched? What I would do is try and maybe wrap a folded wet paper towel square around that part of the belly just to keep it moist if it is in fact internal organs. Keep it damp until you can see the vet. Not much else you can do at this point I would say.

It's really hard to make out with the phone through the plastic, he/she is drinking water off the side but has it's eyes open most of the time, found him/her about 40 minutes ago ontop of the sand in the lay box

I can't see the picture on my computer that I am on right now. Will check when I get home in about an hour. This could be just the yolk sac judging by him still moving around and stuff. Normally this would be absorbed within 24 hours from hatching. Because it was not incubated normally this could be the case. Just keep him separated from other dragons and keep the paper towel moist. Maybe place him in a cup with a moist paper towel in it and place a lid on it with holes. keep it warm in an incubator. This could help with the absorption of the sac.

I'm not an expert on breeding or new hatchlings because we've never breeded beardies, but it does look like what you said. I guess it could be the last of the yolk that it hatched with. I would do what other's suggested, leave it on a wet paper towel and wait and see. You could also pm tatty or Tracie. Tracie (drache613) knows a lot about beardie health and tatty (her screen name) has a whole thread about some of her breedings successes.

looks like a yolk sack...keep it moist and clean and it should go away soon. Thats neat that that beardie hatched the old fashioned way...I just want and double checked my girls lay box after reading this, she layed yesterday...just in case :)

Hello,

It is the yolk sac. It is normally absorbed within 24 hours or so & is a critical part of their initial nutrition for vitamin A & other minerals & nutrients to start out life with.
Please put him in a plastic bin, with some type of heating, with a moist paper towel underneath of him after cleaning him off. Hopefully he will start to absorb his yolk sac now.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
