My beardie is being weird

He is constantly tryong to get out of tank be it burrowing in corner or literally running up the walls and jumping around extremely skittish and im not sure why - he has a reptisun 10.0 his temps are 37C in basking area and about 28.7C in cool area he has a 75 gal tank and is 14months old about 13inches long also. Im worried about him should i be?

What is your tank set up like?
Some beardies dig because they want a hide. Somewhere safe and enclosed to sleep in.

Another posibility could be a pregnant girl, digging because she wants to lay. Are you sure you have a little boy?

Pretty sure is boy as he has a black beard and i not sure he wants sleeping place as he does it all day its a 75 gal and there is no specific hiding place just a log and plant in there

Hi there,
Firstly black beards do not mean that your ittle one is a boy. Both males and females blackbeard. I'll see if i can find the link to the sexing article for you.

If you dont have a hide this could be the cause of the behaviour. Most beardies like to be able to 'retreat' into a hide.
Id suggest buying or making him one and seeing if the behaviour settles down.
Buying a sturdy one is better in the long run, but for the short term you can make him one.

Here is a picture of the make-shift one Ive made Dexter whilst i finish building her one from wood.

Its just a large shoebox with a door cut in. Ive put a section of towel inside because Dex enjoys soft materials.
Just pop her inside when you make it and you'll soon figure out if she wants one over the next couple of days if she continues to visit her hide.
