Help! My little guy is missing! He's an adult beardy and i cant believe a lizard as big as he can hide so well. I've tried everything i can think of and have read.
I was in the kitchen cooking when he was let out of his cage by my wife to roam around like he normally does. He came and said hi and was playing around my feet. I took my attention off of him for just a couple minutes then next thing i realize is he's gone!
Now I've tried checking everywhere i can think of. We live in a split level home with kitchen and front room on the same floor and I've never seen him take an interest in stairs (except falling down them). So i don't know if he went upstairs or fell down to the living room. I checked the cameras i have installed on my kids rooms as baby monitors and i don't see him coming in either of them around the time we lost track of him. I've since torn all rooms upstairs apart and kitchen I've flipped upside down to look under all appliances.
I've looked under the fridge, the oven, the dishwasher, the sofas, the couches, the recliners, the tables, the chairs, the beds and covers behind book cases, in dirty clothes piles, removing all clothes from closets, under the washer and dryer, even in the cats litter box. Ive looked in bathroom cabinets, behind toilets, on top of curtain rods, under and behind all the dressers and after all of that still no Waylon. I'm so discouraged and I'm starting to worry my dog or cats who have yet to show any interest in him decided he looked like a nice snack.
The one place I haven't delved deep into is the basement and crawlspace because my toe can't easily slide under the door, so i figure neither could he.....I'm starting to think i was wrong.
I would check the bathroom 100% then lock the other animals in until i found him. They can hide and blend in way better than anyone would think. Most likely he found a dark corner somewhere and is asleep. Once its dark you can setup a basking area with some food. Turn off all other light sources, he may come to the basking. If he is already asleep he may not come out before the suns out tomorrow.

Neither cat had blood on their fur around their mouths or a carcass hiding in their usual hoard area. Same with the dog.... I mean, the fact I haven't found a trace of him still gives me hope that he's whole wherever he is...
Whenever my beardie (back when I lived in Texas, so around 2014) had escaped his cage, he would be hiding somewhere warm. Behind the washing machines was his favourite hiding spot, maybe check the space behind the dishwasher too?
Your best bet is to set up a really warm basking spot somewhere that the cat or dog can’t get, but will provide warmth to attract him. I hope you can find your dude soon!
Update: Waylon has been found! He was in the empty cabinet space by the oven! We bought a snake camera because we had a feeling he was still somewhere in the kitchen. He's back home now.
Congrats.!
What a hiding place.
Easy place to find him.
I lost my 6-month-old and quickly locked my cat in the bathroom.
Quickly I closed the bedroom door, and he was hiding in a safe easy spot to find.
(Under one of the couches).
He's smart and I was quick on that one.

I am so glad you found Waylon!!!! My heart pounded reading every post! We love happy endings!! This is the only time I know all of us wish they can bark or something- ugh, scary moment.
That is great news you found Waylon! I think we have all had stressful times like that & there have
been times on here where the endings were not good. So, we are all happy he was safe & sound!
