S NT is experiencing a severe slow motion flooding event causing widespread flooding in the Alice Springs and desert regions ( which have essentially being converted to a vast inland sea as a result of Jan2022 rain bomb in QLD and NSW. 24/3/2022 NT recorded 378 new cases , NT local total for DELTA - OMICRON WAVE now 47724 cases. NT recorded 1 Delta / Omicron death. 24/3/2022 NT Reff = 1.14 24/3/2022 NT PCR POSITIVITY = 8.5% 24 March 2022 NT COVID-19 update The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a male in his 70s with COVID-19. The man, who was from Greater Darwin, had underlying health conditions, and passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic is 33. There were 378 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on 23 March 2022. Of these, 320 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). There were 292 cases recorded in the Top End region, 27 in Central Australia, 4 in East Arnhem, 21 in the Big Rivers region, 4 in the Barkly and 30 are under investigation. There are currently 18 patients in hospital, with 2 patients requiring oxygen. There is one patient in ICU. The number of active cases in the NT is 1,792. CHO Direction changes - infected persons and close contacts Amendments will be made to the Chief Health Officer Direction for infected persons and close contacts. The changes will be effective from midday today, 24 March 2022, and include: >a person who was infected with COVID-19 will not be considered a close contact or be required to undertake testing for 8 weeks after they exit isolation >in addition to close contacts, people infected with COVID-19, will now be able to leave isolation to drop off and pick up children at day care, pre-school and school, as well as for any other educational, recreational or health related purposes >a person infected with COVID-19 or a close contact can leave isolation or quarantine to transport children between households in order to facilitate shared parenting arrangements >a person infected with COVID-19 or a close contact can leave isolation to leave the Territory. A person who leaves isolation for any reason must wear a face mask and take all reasonable measures to stay 1.5 metres away from other people. Further changes will be made to other Chief Health Officer Directions as required, and in line with the Territory’s progression to living with COVID-19. Public health measures To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT: >Masks must be worn in high-risk settings including hospitals, GP clinics, remote health clinics, renal facilities, aged care facilities, family violence shelters, sobering up shelters, homeless shelters, corrections facilities and disability facilities. Disability support workers need to wear a mask when undertaking home-services. >Masks must also be worn in airports and on flights, in line with federal requirements. >It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied. The Territory Vaccine Pass. COVID-19 vaccination It’s important everyone aged 16 years and over has their booster dose. Three doses of the vaccine significantly reduces your risk of getting really sick from COVID-19 and will help to protect you against any future strains of the virus. You can have your booster, 3 months after your 2nd dose. If you have had COVID-19, you can get vaccinated as soon as you have recovered. Protect your children against COVID-19 by getting them vaccinated.
