19 JANUARY = DELTA WAVE Day 217 & OMICRON TSUSAMI Day 42 < Pt7 NT > < NZ > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 19/1/2022 NT NT recorded 418 new cases , NT local total for DELTA - OMICRON WAVE now 6957 cases. 0 MYSTERY CASE. NT recorded 0 delta deaths.. NT Health has mandated reporting of +ve RATs. NT Reff = 0.95 NT PCR POSITIVITY = 3.2% NT LOCAL DAILY CASES NT COVID-19 update 19 January 2022 There were 418 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Northern Territory in the 24 hours to 8pm on 18 January 2022. Of these, 355 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test. This takes the number of active cases in the NT to about 4,060. New cases recorded include: • 7 cases in Galiwinku • 3 cases from Yirrkala, of which 2 people were in Nhulunbuy • 3 cases in Umbakumba, of which the source of infection is unknown • 4 cases in Bulla • 2 cases in Lajamanu • 14 cases in Yuendumu • 7 cases in Yuelamu • 15 cases in town camps surrounding Alice Springs • 3 cases from the Old Timers Aged Care Service in Alice Springs • 5 cases in Utopia • 10 cases at the outstations surrounding Ntaria • 2 cases in Santa Teresa There are currently 48 patients in hospital, with seven patients requiring oxygen. There are no patients in ICU. 1,647 COVID-19 PCR tests were processed across the NT yesterday. Public health measures To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission the following public health measures are in place across the NT: • The Territory Vaccine Pass requires all people in the Northern Territory to show proof of their vaccination status to attend a range of businesses, venues, places and events • A Territory-wide indoor mask mandate • A lockout in Alice Springs, Yuendumu, Yuelamu and Amoonguna until 23 January • A lockdown in Yirrkala until 20 January and in Galiwin’ku until 24 January Residents of Umbakumba are asked to remain COVID-safe after three cases of COVID-19 were recorded where the source of infection is unknown. All people in Umbakumba should get tested for COVID-19 if they have any symptoms, and practice COVID-19 safe behaviours including hand washing, wearing a mask and maintaining a physical distance of 1.5 metres. COVID-19 testing Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points have been established. Individuals can collect RATs for free from NT distribution centres located in Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. Indigenous groups are calling for urgent support from the military and federal government, saying the Northern Territory's COVID-19 pandemic response has failed. NT Health Minister Natasha Fyles backed the request for more commonwealth resources to battle the virus in federally supported remote and vulnerable communities. Aboriginal Peak Organisations NT warned of a growing emergency in the territory as the virus spreads to dozens of communities from Arnhem Land to central Australia. Spokesman John Paterson said there are not enough health workers on the ground, and local health centre staff are exhausted and at breaking point. Rapid antigen tests are also in short supply, with staff and community members not being tested. "The result is that infected individuals are not being identified and are spreading the virus undetected," Mr Paterson said on Wednesday. NT virus response teams are also struggling to transport and isolate infected people, who are "being left to isolate in overcrowded and inadequate accommodation". Mr Paterson said the labour shortage had slowed the remote vaccination rollout in communities with Aboriginal-controlled health organisations. "A surge workforce is urgently needed to deal with the current crisis," he said while raising concern over "a looming food security crisis" due to supply chain issues. "This is the time, when the essential elements of the COVID response are faltering, to enlist the direct support of the Commonwealth and defence force," he said. Ms Fyles agreed more commonwealth support was needed for federally supported communities and health organisations but said the NT had "plenty of resources" for its broader community. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> < NZ > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NZ recorded 23 LOCAL cases , NZ local total for DELTA - OMICRON WAVE now 11419 cases. 1 mystery cases. 56 repats from o/seas. again NZ recorded 0 delta deaths.
