19 JANUARY = DELTA WAVE Day 217 & OMICRON TSUSAMI Day 42 < Pt3 VIC > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 19/1/2022 VIC VIC recorded 20769 new cases, VIC local total for DELTA - OMICRON WAVE is now 653663 cases. VIC recorded 18 delta deaths.. Omicron VOC is the dominant strain in Victoria as it is in NSW. Density limits are in place in Victoria . Vic Health has mandated that RAT +ves must be reported. VIC Reff = 0.81 VIC PCR POSITIVITY = 21.5% CALC EFFECTIVE ( +RAT + PCR ) VIC POSITIVITY +VE RATs = 10043 +VE PCRs = 10726 ==> PCR TESTS = 10726/0.215 = 49888 ==> +VE (RATs + PCRs) = 20769 ==> TESTS ( PCRs + +ve RATs) = 49888 + 10043 =59931 EFFECTIVE POSITIVITY = +VE (RATs + PCRs) / TESTS ( PCRs + +ve RATs) = 20769 / 59931 = 34.7 % VIC DAILY CASES SNAPSHOTS VIC DAILY CASES WITH CURVE Hundreds of VIC police are forced to isolate in Australia due to Covid. Victoria Police has confirmed many officers are isolating as close contacts and are unable to work because it hasn't been able to 'source a consistent and reliable supply' of Rapid Antigen Tests. 'While Victoria Police has received an initial supply of rapid antigen tests (RATs) and more are expected shortly, we have not yet been able to source a consistent and reliable supply to cover the number that would be required to test all employees currently isolating,' a spokesperson for Victoria Police said in a statement. 'It is hoped these supply chain issues will be resolved in the next few weeks. As a result, Victoria Police employees who are close family contacts will need to continue to isolate.' 'For operational reasons we will not be providing numbers on how many employees are on unplanned leave, including those isolating. The community can be assured that service delivery to the public will remain unaffected during this time.' CODE BROWN ALERT issued for every major hospital in Victoria = all leave cancelled , no visitors , unlimited call ins and overtime for all nurses , doctors , paramedics and ambulance crews , and clinicians due to severe staff shortages due to staff being taken out of commission by contracting Delta or Omicron at work or when off duty , and more being deemed close contacts and forced into 14 day ISO or until they produce a negative RAT or PCR. All elective procedures cancelled including IVF. Private Hospitals and their staff are conscripted to the covid health battle. ADF personnel will be deployed to Victoria to help the struggling healthcare system.Hospitals have been overwhelmed by rising COVID cases, prompting a 'code brown' emergency declaration. The declaration means health care staff and resources can be redeployed to different sites and non-essential services will be postponed. The military assistance includes 20 drivers who will support paramedics. Residential aged care in Victoria ( actually all over NSW, QLD, SA, ACT, NT, Tas, and Vic ) are in crisis AGAIN with over 1/3 of all residential aged ( and Disabled NDIS funded ) care facilities reporting staff shortages due to staff being infected by Delta or Omicron , being deemed close contacts and forced in ISO til they produce a negative PCR or RAT ( minimum 14 days) , and many residents infected with Delta or Omicron . Nothing has been learnt from the Aged Care RC and no action taken to rectify the issues identified by the RC , again the Federal Govt Minister for Aging & Disability has sat on his hands and done nothing. Victoria announces four day 'booster blitz'. Victorian COVID Response Deputy Secretary Naomi Bromley says reducing the interval between a second vaccine and a booster to three months is a “huge milestone”.“It’s vital that we made this change in our state run system ahead of school and work picking up again in February,” she said. “It means someone getting vaccinated this weekend will have their full protection within the first weeks of February.” Ms Bromley said there would be a four day booster blitz at major vaccination centres and there would be extra bookings and space for walk-ins. NSW, QLD, SA, ACT and TAS all have followed Vic Health in bringing forward booster shots ( here the choices are Pfizer or Moderna irrespective of the primary vaxx you had , and yes , some will choose AZ as their booster despite it's poor Omicron neutralization ).
