Of these, 149 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test. This takes the number of active cases in the NT to about 3,950. New cases recorded include: • 15 cases in Galiwin’ku, bringing the total number to 19 • 2 cases in Yirrkala • 7 cases in Yuendumu • 6 cases in Yuelamu • 2 cases at Old Timers Town Camp in Alice Springs • 6 inmates at the Alice Springs Correctional Centre • 1 inmate at the Darwin Correctional Centre • 1 patient the Alyerre Renal Hostel in Alice Springs • 4 staff from the Old Timers Aged Care Service in Alice Springs There are currently 39 patients in hospital, with 25 classified as acute hospital admissions including one patient in ICU. 1,303 COVID-19 PCR tests were processed across the NT yesterday. Galiwin’ku to enter lockdown for seven days The Wessel Islands Archipelago, encompassing Elcho Island including Galiwin’ku and Wessel Island including Martjanba, will enter a lockdown at 2pm today for seven days to help control the spread of COVID-19. This will allow for cases to be managed locally where possible through COVID Care in the home or at alternative accommodation on the island. Yirrkala to enter lockdown for 72 hours Yirrkala will enter a lockdown at 2pm today for at least 72 hours to undertake a testing blitz and identify the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Lockdown requirements During a lockdown, residents must stay at home and are only permitted to leave for the following four reasons: 1. Medical treatment, including COVID testing and vaccination 2. For essential goods and services, like groceries, medications or power tokens. Only one household member should visit the store, once per day 3. For one hour of outdoor exercise a day within 5 km from your home with one other person or people from your house 4. To provide care and support to a family member or person who cannot support themselves, or in the case of an emergency. Essential workers who are fully vaccinated can continue to go to work. Public health measures To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission the following public health measures are in place across the NT: • The Territory Vaccine Pass requires all people in the Northern Territory to show proof of their vaccination status to attend a range of businesses, venues, places and events • A Territory-wide indoor mask mandate • A lockout in Alice Springs, Yuendumu, Yuelamu and Amoonguna until 23 January • A lockdown in Yirrkala until 20 January and in Galiwin’ku until 24 January. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 14 JANUARY = DELTA WAVE Day 215 & OMICRON TSUSAMI Day 40 < NZ > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NZ recorded 16 LOCAL cases , NZ local total for DELTA - OMICRON WAVE now 11383 cases. 0 mystery cases. 42 repats from o/seas. again NZ recorded 0 delta deaths.
