8 October - = Day 114 in the NSW & VICTORIA DELTA WAVE . A horrible and deadly day in NSW & Victoria with Australia's highest overnight covid cases ever to be recorded = 2526 new delta cases spread across NSW , Vic and ACT , and 16 covid deaths . In Victoria's Delta Wave doesn't peak soon or it's exponential growth phase decelerate ( slope reduced to closer to or under 1.0 ) , inside 2 weeks it's likely Victoria's Delta Wave will overtake NSW's Delta Wave . HOSPITALIZATIONS ( 2 week daily snap shots ) Of 24,914 current or "active" cases, only 1,520 or 6 % are receiving hospital care. This includes 306 patients in ICU (or 1 % of current cases). DELTA DEATHS ( 2 week daily snap shots ) NSW NSW recorded 646 local cases , bringing NSW's total to 62776 in 114 days . Sydney LHAs are at 105 days in lockdown . Today in NSW there were 518 mystery cases ( 80.2 %) <== contact tracing in NSW is clearly still overwhelmed. NSW recorded 11 deaths from Delta. ALL in Greater Sydney. Delta death toll since start of this Wave stands ae 404. NSW has reached the 70 % double-dose vaccination milestone. ==> in reality 70x 0.72 = 50.4% of the population of NSW are actually fully vaccinated. NSW Health administered 23,101 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 10,707,149, with 3,708,962 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 6,998,187 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Wednesday 6 October 2021. To 11.59pm on Wednesday 6 October across NSW, 89.4 % of the over-16 population had received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 70.3 % were fully vaccinated. NSW's new Premier ( an Australian clone of Gov DeSantis / Gov Abbott/ ExPotus Trump / Brazil Pres Bolsonaro ) is ignoring advise of the AMA , hospital senr ICU clinicians, the NSW CHO and is moving ahead on Monday with NSW's "Freedom Day" for fully vaxxed residents in NSW. This will not end well because the Delta Case load throughout Sydney, ISH, NBMts, NHE, SNSW is WAY TOO HIGH. NSW CHO Dr Kerry Chant did NOT endorse NSW Premier Dom Perrottet's ( & ScoMo's ) roadmap out of lockdown. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/dr-kerry-chant-did-not-endorse-dom-perrottet-s-roadmap-out-of-lockdown/ar-AAPec2p?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531 And now a new mutation / strain of Delta has evolved in SWSyd / WSYD and NSW Health is scrambling to track down where it came from. What the new SYDNEY Delta strain found means for Australia and how it mutuated. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/what-the-new-delta-strain-found-in-nsw-means-for-australia/ar-AAPgORd?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531 Of the 646 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 136 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 119 are from Western Sydney LHD, 52 are from Sydney LHD, 20 are from Northern Sydney LHD, 48 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 42 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 97 are from Hunter New England LHD, 35 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 31 are from Central Coast LHD, 25 are from Southern NSW LHD, 16 are from Western NSW LHD, 9 are from Northern NSW LHD, 5 are from Far West LHD, 3 are from Mid North Coast LHD, 1 is from Murrumbidgee LHD, and 7 are yet to be assigned to an LHD. NSW Health's ongoing sewage surveillance program has detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 in sewage samples collected from across NSW, including Wee Waa ( pronounced We wall ) in the Hunter New England region and Quirindi and Brewarrina in western NSW. Victoria recorded the state's highest ever overnight local Delta case load of 1838 new local cases overnight ( all mystery cases) and there is no sigh that Victoria's Delta Wave is peaking or near peaking any time soon. This is also the highest overnight local case numbers detected in any state of Australia for the entire pandemic. Total LOCAL CASES in Victoria's Delta Wave = 28360. Victoria also recorded 5 Delta deaths overnight . Chief Health Officer (Prof) Brett Sutton announced residents in the Mildura Rural City Council area will enter a snap 7-day lockdown from 11:59pm, giving locals less than 7 hours notice. Mildura's infections have risen in recent days, with 12 active cases in the area. 3 cases were confirmed on Friday afternoon, to be reported in Saturday's numbers. 'The public health teams are concerned about onward transmission in the Mildura and have determined that the 7-day STAGE4 lockdown is needed to limit growth in cases,' the CHO statement said. Mildura will be under the same stay-at-home rules as Melbourne, excluding the curfew, with a 15-kilometre travel limit and visitors banned from entering people's homes. More than 86 % of Mildura's eligible population ( 16yo and older ) have had one dose of a COVID vaccine, and 51 % have had two doses. Prof Sutton urged Mildura residents to get vaccinated, look out for symptoms and get tested if any develop, with a rapid response testing team to be sent to the region for support. He has also announced Shepparton and Moorabool's lockdown restrictions will ease from midnight on Friday, after the measures slowed growth of the virus in those areas. Both town's restrictions will match the rest of regional Victoria ( Stage 3 ), with masks required inside and outside, and social gatherings at home banned. ACT recorded recorded a surge to 40 new cases again w/ 19 mystery cases . Their total in this outbreak is 1124. The Centenary Hospital Nursery cluster has surged overnight. ACT recorded 0 delta deaths. QLD. WA , SA , NT , TAS , all had OO days recorded, only cases recorded in these states were already in quarantine and all are repats from o/seas. In SA , restrictions will ease effective immediately on South Australia’s Mount Gambier region after no new COVID cases were reported. Mount Gambier, Grant and Wattle Range councils, will revert to the same conditions as the rest of the state ( Stage 2 ) . The COVID coordinator has also reinstated the 70-kilometre cross-border bubble with Victoria. Portland is excluded from the bubble due to high detection of COVID in wastewater. NZ recorded 44 new LOCAL delta cases overnight includes 33 mystery cases. Total of local Delta transmissions is now 1503 . 1 delta deaths today in NZ .
