11 April update Top of the news here - Catagory3 Cyclone Seroja is crossing the SW WA coast just south of Kalbarri and Gregory as I type . This is the same TC that devastated Timor Leste. https://www.caritas.org.au/news/latest-news/over-100-deaths-after-tropical-cyclone-seroja-and-torrential-rain-lead-to-flooding-and-landslides-in-timor-leste-and-indonesia/ Situation evolving in WA Homes have been destroyed in the township of Kalbarri and national disaster is unfolding according to scattered reports from residents in and near Kalbarri & Murchison. The eye is 45 kilometres south southeast of Kalbarri and 80 kilometres north northwest of Geraldton , and will also clobber Geraldton as a Category3 . Kalbarri a coast town 500km NNW of north of Perth and is a very popular get-away for Perth residents and grey nomads and interstate caravaners and campers ( who go there to fish, surf, and as base to explore inland and along the Kalbarri Creek ) . The town of Kalbarri Buildings and homes this far south are NOT commonly built to withstand severe tropical cyclones and images I've seen on the news are reminiscent of what happened when TC Tracy devastated Darwin. ( Eyewitness accounts are of entire streets have homes destroyed or deroofed or severely damaged in Kalbarri , similar is likely in Geraldton ). No reports yet of serous casualties. Power is out in Kalbarri and Geraldton now due to the TC blowing trees down, and the situation is intensifying at Geraldton while Kalbarri is in The Eye now. 11:30pm Sydney Time. 120mm rain since 9am at Kalbarri. Geraldton has now been hit and unclear how much damage has been caused . Vax Rollout PM has admitted Australia is not going to have every Australian who needs or wants to be vaccinated against cov19 and the new nastier strains P1, B117, B1350 etc by the target of Jan 2022. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/morrison-admits-all-australians-may-not-be-vaccinated-by-end-of-year-due-to-many-uncertainties/ar-BB1fwkDT?ocid=msedgdhp << COMMENT : fortunately we have no local covid or covid strain local transmission in Australia at this time because we have premiers who let their health ministers and CHOs take the lead , and we have crushed the curve for the 1st and 2nd waves , and the outbreaks since then in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide ( all quarantine leaks ) and the larger majority of Australians have acted rationally and did what was needed to protect themselves and their communities. So it is not so much a matter urgency like elsewhere o/seas everywhere else expect Pacific Micronations and NZ. My wife and I will be holding off for a while , and continuing soc iso at home and mask wearing for now , and so are no hurry to get vaccinated ( w/ AstraZeneca's vaccine , we'd prefer Pfizer's vaccine ) , if we needed to work and mix with strangers and workmates, that would be a different can of worms . QLD has reported one local transmission of B117, fortunately the lady who was at the hens' party in Byron Bay has been strictly self-isolating and recovered at home and is not considered a risk of spread. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/byron-bay-covid-19-cluster-grows-after-queensland-woman-infected/ar-BB1fwESG?ocid=msedgdhp NZ has reported another quarantine hotel worker has become infected with covid19. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/new-zealand-s-covid-cluster-grows/ar-BB1fwWcd?ocid=msedgdhp
