24 March Update. Hunter Valley / Lake Macquarie and areas north - The sun broke through the clouds today and we had a lovely hot summerlike day all day ( nudging 30 degC all day with very steamy conditions. Rain will be back. Phone calls from some of my fishing mates were not flash - the Hunter and Hawksbury Rivers are unfishable - choked with all manner of floating flood debris ( whole trees , huge branches , bits of timber , dead animals ) and it's built up along the foreshore at Kooragang Is , north and south arms of the Hunter River , Stockton, Carrington basin and Throsby Creek, on the harbour side of Nobbys Wall , and is accumulating on the Horse Shoe ( wave trap ) beaches and on local beaches. Very dangerous having to walk on top of loose tree branches , and too dangerous to put a boat in the water ( too many submerged very large hard objects ) , so fishing here for jewfish is only for the foolhardy ( even though the big seas have abated back to about 2m ). So I'll be leaving my cliff gaff and big snapper & jewy rods and reels under the shed rafters , at least for a few weeks , would have good to get to the harbour as the start of the floods arrived . The Rainbomb is not clobbering the far south coast of NSW , the Snowys , eastern Victoria and Tasmania , flooding large areas of these. Covid Update : NSW is moving to CovidNORMAL from Friday Masks to go, dancing returns as restrictions lift across NSW
