18 December …. Our plan up in air wrt Xmas & NYE Grandson comes on Saturday afternoon to stay til Xmas Eve ( lives in Raymond Terrace , no known covid cases there since June ). Our son is a different storey , he works and lives just west of the Sydney CBD , on the south side of the harbour , uses buses , taxies and trains and metro everyday . This puts him in the HOTSPOT . Asking him to watch devs in Sydney VERY CLOSELY and the NSW health alerts regards venues and train, metro and bus routes and times slots involved. Asking him to get tested for covid day before he leaves to come here ( turn around here is under 24 hrs for gold standard NAP covid tests , and to ensure he keeps a mask on when anywhere near pple and enroute her from Central by train & bus / taxi. About those Xmas square dance parties on the central coast at Hotchskie's , Carpenter's and Howard's clubs , looks like giving them a miss was a VERY GOOD CALL on my behalf. Esp since most the regulars at B-BAR-H and Carpenter & Co hail for Central Coast & NE Sydney . Call the callers today and they've asked everyone who came to get self isolate and get tested - Dodged a bullet there in 2 ways 1) I might have called on to call some hoe downs and do a duo ( I'm very rusty on that stuff , yes I've attended many caller training workshops , not as a trainee caller , but as an experienced dancer / err Guinee pig , and been know to occasional have a bash at calling a set or a hoedown ) 2) high chance someone was an asymp / presym while there . An abundance of caution is to be applied , better safe than sorry or worse afterwards.
