I woke up yesterday morning and Izzy was limping around her cage and her back leg isn't moving. I don't really notice much swelling or any open wounds, although her leg might be just slightly swollen, I can't really tell a big difference from her other leg. I took out her tree and put down a t-shirt over the sand in her tank and she doesn't really mover around much at all. She is still eating her veggies tho so I know that is a good sign.. Any advice as to what to do?

I think some places say that impaction can lead to back leg paralisis, but I don't know if it could only affect one leg.

Thats just my two sense. Especially with the sand for substrate..

I think all you can really do is keep her comfortable and less active until it can heal. You may need to hand feed her live feeders. Put crix in the fridge (gross I know) for 45 mins to slow them down. With sand, I assume you feed her outside of the viv anyway so she doesn't ingest the sand?

No she doesn't ingest the sand I keep an eye on her and her food when she is eating she normally eats outside the tank.. Do you think the sane has anything to do with the problem? She limps on her front leg that is carrying the back leg that isn't moving at all.. I am trying my best here to keep her comfy and ok. I hope she will get through this. Do you think it would be any good to take her to the vet or should I just do what I can to keep her from moving around too much?

Thanks so much for the answers.

To the best of my understanding, impaction paralyzes both rear lays when it causes paralysis, so I don't think the sand has caused this. When did she poop last? Is there anything in her viv that she can fall from? Sorry I can't be any more help than this.

Yea she goes to the bathroom almost daily, she was sleeping in her tree the night before, which is the only thing I can think of that she fell out of it and hurt herself. I read up a little on impaction and I don't think that is the case, I put her in a warm bath yesterday after I noticed her limping and she went to the bathroom right away almost. Thank you so much for your help!

Maybe a cricket infection?? i have heard that if crickets, woodies or other live food i left in an enclosure over night they may affect the animal by 'feeding' of it. i dont have much info on it soz..keep us posted on how she goes.

Cheers

Im really sorry, i cant imagine what is going on. Maybe she did fall? All i can suggest is after a few days if its no better take her to the vet, maybe a pain killer or antiinflamatory will make her more comfortable while it heals?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
