She is still roaming her cage today and basking, no eating though. Her basking spot is around 98, i checked today. She pooped last friday last, the massaging has just resulted in the white stuff coming out and i will walk by her cage after her bath, usually an hour late, and see she has tried to poop again, i know because the spot will be wet with whatever white stuff she had before. I feels like the lump has moved down more, and has started to turn to the center near her butt, but most is still to the right. I have set a vet appointment but wont beable to get her in till monday.
Definitely!! They need high temperatures for their digestive system to work. 105-110 are nice, optimal basking temperatures.
For now, until she passes it, you could try to make sure she's under her light for as long as possible, and when she moves, just put her back in it, or at least close-ish to it. That's what I would suggest anyway.
Well i woke up today to see Tiki has past what i believe is the last part of the impaction, i felt her stomach and cant feel any lumps or anything. Should i still keep the vet appointment today and just take her to perhaps just get a general checkup?
Okay ill still keep it, they said the appointment will cost 48$ total, so no harm in just doing a checkup and making sure she is okay. The oil and baths seemed to really do the trick, even after a week. Thanks for the help all, will update to when im back from the vet.
Ok well vet went okay. Turns out the impaction is worse then i thought, apparently i didnt push hard enough to feel more. It is most likely due to the sand substrate, which i have removed, and it is still rather large. He gave me a broad kinda anti-parasite incase the poop i gave him didnt show enough, and also a laxative kinda stuff, which should help the impaction. He was surprise that she still moves around and has energy with the way the impaction was, so atleast that is good and so is the passing of the poop she did, which apparently was gel like because it was mainly just mucus that passed through the impaction, still had some cricket in it.
I have a follow up in 7 days, total cost currently 112$, still not bad if it all works out.
Well been 4 days since the vet, have a followup on monday. I set her in the bath and started to massage her, and noticed she twitched her back legs, so i kept doing it, and she started to inflate, struggling to poop. After a good 3 minutes she pooped. Still some impaction in her, so hope it keeps looking up.
But give her a (hand) warm bath! The warmth and the water activate her intestines and she might poop in the bath! And if she want to , let her swim! Movement + Warmth (and water) all are very good if your beardie has impaction!
And some greens , like endive (i believe) , work laxative and oil etc too!
Thank you. I have been giving her warm baths, and doing massages in the bath to help her. The vet has given me some laxatives to help with the blockage. She has been eating collard greens, which given the impaction im surprised she is, but it is good. Didnt think about trying some other greens though.
