Hero was scared.

Last night I went into my home office where Hero is kept. I saw him sleeping and got a closer look. Usually he seems to be able to tell I am looking and will open his eyes to look at me. He didn't do this and as I looked closer I could not see him breathing. I was like Oh, no! So, I tapped on the glass, made noises and no reaction from him. My stomach dropped. I opened the lid, and touched his back....nothing. Touched him again for a couple of seconds and all the sudden, WHOA!! He jumped off his sleeping spot with his eyes wide open! He looked at me like What was that for!?! He was breathing hard and did not look too happy. It scared me at first then I laughed really hard and felt so bad for waking him when he was in such a deep sleep.

Same thing happened to me when i first got spike, it was the day after i got him, his first night in his new cage, so i look at him, doesnt seem to be breathing or anything so i freak out, i touch his back nothing, i run and get my g/f who had just bought it for me the night before fore christmas and tell her, i then go back to his cage and kinda pull on his tail, he jumps up and looks at me like what the hell was that for, i was asleep man lol, i felt alot better after i saw him do that lol, they can be deep sleepers sumtimes

i had a very similar thing happen to me the other day it was in the morning and he is usual first up to be on watch while the female sleeps and when i taped on the glass he was not moving and i started knoking on the wood and the female woke up but he was still asleep, very worried, i put my hand in to pick him up suddenly he puffed out his beard his back went flat hard and stuck up and he just lept out my hand tale wipping and wriggling around trying to bite me with his mouth wide open he was so mad i realy must of made him jump i have never seen him move so fast lol. he has never gone for me befor. i jumped out my skin lol. found it realy funny though he is so clumsey lol.

That is funny! Same thing happened here too, last week. It looked like my beardie bindi was not breathing. I opened the cage and blew on her. No response. I was afraid she was dead, and poked at her with a tweezer I use for her worms. No response. I woke up my sleeping husband, 2a.m.!! He put her light on and she opened her eye as to say WHAT, I'M SLEEPING! It really scared me. She didn't budge for me!! It is funny to hear everyone elses similar experiences. Chris

Wow, I was afraid I was the only one who's had an experience like this.

I've been really busy lately, so I haven't had much time with Pyro. I was feeling kind of bad, so I looked in his viv to check on him, & he was just laying there, not on his log, but but behind it. I thought it was kind of weird, so I kept saying "Pyro, Pyro!", he didn't move. I poked him & still nothing. So I tried to wake my boyfriend up, because I was sure Pyro was dead, & when I turn back around, he's giving me the beardie glare like "what is your problem!?". I was so relieved.
