Hi my bearded dragon Lorenzo has a weird discoloration on the back of the head/upper neck I don't know why. I noticed it a few days ago when I started to dust his worms/dubai roaches with Rep-cal calcium with vit.d3 instead of mixing it with the food for the roaches. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But today I woke up and saw there was a little bit of blood under his scales. I don't know how to post pictures on this but I will try to figure it out soon.
Hi there, sorry to hear about Lorenzo's problem. Is he housed with another dragon ? Is it possible that he has mites ? Pics would be helpful....here's how to post : https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/
It's probably not mites, but they are tiny red insects that can cluster together on a reptile, if there are enough of them it can look like small red spots.
Is your brother's dragon a male ? If he runs around with the other male dragon, that one may bite him on the back of the neck. That's what they do trying to mate [ some males will try to mate with any beardie, male or female ]
Looks like he scraped it on something, nothing serious though. Might have happened when he was roaming in the house or possibly in his tank. Do you have pics of his set up ? You can apply a bit of raw, unpasteurized honey there [ it'a a natural antimicrobial with healing properties ] or use neosporin or antibiotic cream , but not the kind with pain reliever in it. Look around his tank to see there's nothing sharp and watch him when he's out roaming....but he should be fine.
That's relief xD I was so worried cause he's been getting a respiratory infection but its starting to clear up and now this. But why is there a little light brown patch or is that just a bruised area?
It could be just bruising or it could be the scales shed differently if there's a slight wound . By the way, does he get up to the highest point on his tree to bask ? If so, do you have a high watt bulb there ? Just wondering if he might even have a very slight burn.
