Had a funny thing happen tonight, at feeding time. I live in southern Iowa, and we are just, maybe, possibly, getting on the warm side of winter. Anyhoo...
As I was about to pull the screen off to get her food dish out, a common housefly (hibernation, who knows!?) flew up to the tank glass and smacked it, BAMB! Just flew in place trying to get to the basking light I assume.
I have been very blessed that this little one, is very easy going, fearless, friendly and a REAL eater.
She saw this fly and came storming down from her basking rock, as I'm standing there, and hit the glass, tongue out, hard. She didn't care. Obviously didn't get the fly, but she's no quitter. I am laughing my ass off as she drags her face, and tongue, all over the glass trying to score, that, fly!
Needless to say, she ate, crickets, superworms, and even some greens from my hand tonight. Was immensely satisfying.
I think the thing about these little creatures, that I have found so surprising, is the personality that they exhibit. I kind of expected a relatively emotionless pet, and I got anything but!
Cheers!
