Dissapointed

When I came across the site and thouroughly read each question followed by tons of answers I honestly thought wow, this is just what i need, only to realise not one reply to my question or help in any way. Being a very new beardie owner, have battled slightly with the ins and outs of these awesome animals. Luckily there are other forums that are willing to help regardless of how "silly/simple" the question.

Unfortunately none of us are paid to go on this website, so we must work, sleep, etc. And then we can come on here in the free time. I noticed you posted at 2:30am and then made this post only 6 hours later. Sometimes you have a wait a day or two so that somebody who actually has an answer can find your post. I see, however, that your question has some answers

Have some patience. :wink: Some days on this forum are more dead than others too, and I noticed that you are in South Africa... Most of us are in the US or the UK, so we all have different time zones as well. If your post goes too long with out being answered, give it a "bump" or PM a member who might be able to give you an answer faster.

I believe it is a tiny bit unfair to make an assumption after about 6 hours of being here, as has been said before, everyone lives in different time zones, and no-one gets paid to come and help on here. 

To be fair, if there was a member on here, that sat and answered questions nearly all day and night, I would begin to worry about the care of their own animals, because if they are always sitting in here posting answers to all the questions, then they can't be doing much towards the actual care and maintenance and upkeep of their own animals.

I think this place is great for information and advice, when I panicked that I was going to lose Dexter, my thread in ER, was responded to rather quickly indeed.

NONE of these guys (that I know of) claims to be a vet, neither did any of them sign up on a rota for 24 hour cover.  IF THEY HAD, and no-one responded, then I could understand a tinsy bit of disappointment that you didn't get the answers that you wanted straight away. However, as every member is a human being, I'm not surprised you didn't get immediate answers.

I would rather wait a day for an answer for advice from someone who knows what they are talking about, than have someone who knows bugger all about the subject, answer the question just because they notice the question has not been answered for a few hours.

Same with 99.9% of the forums on the internet, the other 0.1% are forums that you have to part with A LOT OF CASH, to get the speedy service that you want.

Just my two penneth anyway.

Perhaps if you give this site another try, sometimes winter gets slow from lots of dragons brumating, so there is not much to check on.

We do try to get to as many members as possible, but as moderators it is impossible to reach every single one.
That is why we depend so much on our wonderful members who help out with their time & knowledge. We do
the best that we can here.
Perhaps the question was very early in the morning & had not been viewed yet?

We actually have a significant number of people from South Africa, but still a significant minority. I think 1 - 1.2% of the traffic is from South Africa. Although, that puts ZA in 5th place (in order: US [72%], UK [12%], Canada [11%], Australia [2.5%], South Africa [1%], and the rest is just from everywhere else).

But hopefully, now that the day has turned, you've gotten some good and helpful responses to your questions. The community here is generally pretty good at helping each other out.
