Digestion Issues (Urgent?)

For a baby as small as yours, I would keep leaving some in a dish, though if Tracie disagrees then I will learn that lesson along with you :wink: ... be warned though they do get spoiled quickly! My dragons are both 1 year old but one is 1/2 the size of the other and we leave the PW's in a dish for him often. The bigger one, if we leave them in a dish she just knocks them over and stomps them into mush :shock: ...And they both love to be hand-fed ... :roll: :roll: <-- that's my hubby and daughter upset over how I've spoiled the babies

WOO HOO! Kazul ate 50 small Phoenix worms today already...and had a completely normal poop!

(Who would have ever thought I would be so excited about eating worms and pooping? :roll: )

Go Kazul! I know, I think I've talked about my lizard's diet and poop more in 8+ months than I talked about my kids' in 13 years not that I did it that much once they started to walk I hope :shock:

OK, this update is ALL GOOD NEWS!

Kazul regularly eats about 100 phoenix worms per day.

Poop is at least once a day, and very normal looking.

I got some fake tears eye drops to help with the squinting from when he was under a coil in his old tank. I can already see improvement.

The temp gun finally arrived! It looks like my cheapo dial was about 5-7 degrees off. I adjusted the basking light accordingly, and Kazul looks absolutely adorable basking at the hot spot.

He is growing and shedding...the poor guy's legs sprouted before his body could catch up, so he looks all awkward now...in a cute way. :mrgreen:

Hopefully we can keep this up, and he will make up for lost growth!!!
It looks like a full recovery from the tiny, undernourished pet store baby with sore eyes and digestion issues.

Hello Kelly,

Great that he is doing so much better now. So, the temps were off just a bit, well that can make a pretty big difference. Did you get the lights adjusted then?
Wow he ate alot didn't he? That is awesome.
His stool is getting back to normal also. It sounds like he is on the mend now, thank goodness. Were you getting gray hair?

Yup, the temps were off just enough to complicate things, but the lights are all adjusted now.
I think switching from crix to PW made a big difference, too. He is much more eager to eat the worms, probably because he doesn't have to catch them. Between the food, the temps and moving him to a larger viv...there were probably a lot of factors keeping him from thriving.

I agree that it looks like he's on the mend!

Just in time for the school year to start up again...my hair is already pretty grey from all the teenagers! :roll:

Hello Kelly,

Yes, perhaps there were several issues that were stressing him out a little bit. At least he is enjoying the worms & is eating a good amount now. It is hard to believe that the temperatures can make that much of a difference, but they really can.
At least he is doing much better now, just in time for school!
