Hi everyone,
I have parted with my sweet Jojo. He has been coughing since about 2-3 months. We had him on baytril and furotab for a while. Then, it got better until it returned a few weeks ago. It started with him opening his mouth to breathe. Later, he woke up at night just to choke and wheeze for 10-15 min. He also kept opening his mouth outside, even longer and with more heavy breathing. We have been from vet to vet and turns out masses developed on his lung after the most recent x-ray. The blood test came back hinting at a tumour. The vet told us that they can't remove the tumor and that we now have the choice: euthanise him and spare him more agony and suffering or keep giving him meds until his symptoms get unbearable.
We decided on euthanising instantly because he suffered so much from all the choking and coughing. But now in hindsight, he still was eating. A bit lethargic, sure but I keep asking myself if I did the right choice. Sure, he would have passed, there was nothing the vet could do but still.
