desert spiny lizard

Has anyone seen these before? Apparently my brother sees them all the time hiking in AZ.. He's taken a few pictures of some colorful ones(not quite as colorful as the one pictured).. All I can think of when I see this picture is, I wonder what crazy morphs would come out of that lizard.. I've read a little online and think some people keep them as pets, but there isn't a ton of info on them.. I'd imagine the care is pretty close to a beardie being a desert creature.
