Does anyone out there know anything about Desert Spiny Lizards?? Can't find much on the internet :? !? I understand their habitat set-up is pretty much like my bearded dragons'. Any info would be greatly appreciated. How big do they get? What do they eat besides dusted insects? How do you sex them? ETC........

I used to have crevice spiny lizards, they were live bearers. I kept them on sand with lots of rocks, hot spot pretty much like a beardie...loved crickets and superworms. The males will be more colorful than the females. I think the desert spiny males are fantastic, with irridescent purplish colors. They are nowhere near as tame as beardies, but I could handle mine. I never gave baths, they had a medium water bowl on the cool end of the tank, away from the heat lamp.

Although the crevice spiny is a live-bearer [ that's what I had ], I just read that the desert spiny is an egg-layer. It will eat the usual insects that a beardie would eat, and possibly a little bit if veggies, you can even try flowers like hibiscus, nasturtium or dandelion.

It appears this guy is a blue belly swift? lizard? Still can't find much info. What is the difference between a swift and a lizard? We named him Captain Blue Beard and whatever kind of lizard he is, he is VERY fast and squirmy!

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
