Hey everyone, I have a beardie that just laid her first clutch I have 9 eggs in a hobavator, temp is 83 degrees and humidity is 78%. Some of the eggs are collapsed a bit but still sem to be fertile. all the eggs have a blood spot and are staying pink. I did have 1 egg mold so I changed the virmiculite and container they were in. There are some that just sem somewhat deflated. Theyve been in the incubator for at least 36 hours now, but still no firmer. She did lay them in the open in the cage and they had gotten a bit sunken from that. Im just wondering the likelyhood of them being ok and if there is anything i can do to improve their conditions. thanks.

I had the same problem. If in fact they are fertile, you need to raise the humidity. The way I did that is to wet a washcloth(not dripping) and lay it flat in the incubator on top of the container that they are in. It may take a little while, but they will plump back out. I keep my humidity between 85-90. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Place a container of water in the incubator. You need to check the temperature and see if it is in the low 80's. If the humidity is too low, the eggs will collapse, too high and they will mold. Try to find that proper balance. Also, If you candle the eggs, you should see a pinkish cast and a network of veins. If you don't see this in about a month, they may not be fertile. Fertile eggs will actually increase in size and absorb the moisture.

yes of the 9 i have im sure that at least 5 are fertile. the humidity is now at about 90% and they are nice and pink, though still somewhat collapsed. the pink ones im noticing are filling out some though. We will see how it goes, im just gonna let them be for a while and see what happens. thanks guys!

how long ago did your female mate? Or rather, when were the eggs laid again? I know they've been in the incubator for 36 hrs, but, do you know when they were laid?

they mated over 4 months ago, and the eggs have been laid in a slow stream for the past 4 days now...its weird i know, but shes fine...and some of the eggs have a dark pink hue to them, but they are looking a little translucent...i think they may be going bad however they have the most internal development. is it possible that the eggs began to incubate internally? ive personally never heard of such a thing, but they have quite a bit of vessel development for 5 days in the hobavator...anyway, im just thinking and typing at the same time.

i'm not well versed in breeding but let me give it my best shot....

If the eggshell is transluscent, she could be calcium deficient. If there's any pink stuff in her urate and not on the eggs, it's hormonal discharge of some type. Eggs come in different clutches and beardies can hold sperm for 6 mos.I believe the embryo develops a little bit in the mother.

Could you post a pic? I believe she may have calcium deficient eggs. They need extra supplementation and good nutrition while gravid. :silent:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
