Im very new to this forum and Beardies and am trying to learn.
From what i understand for an incubator you want to hold humidity and maintain a certain temp while the eggs lay on moist verm or perlite.
I want to build my own,, and from experience with other hobbies of mine this sounds like something ive done before so im gonna try to combine what i know with this hobby.
From experience, if ones trying to maintain a constant humidity level it would be smart to use an ultra sonic humidifier and connect it to the unit (incubator) made from a rubber maid bin or what ever you may be using.
Next connect the ultra sonic via "hose" to the incubator "bin"..and set timer to provide desired humidity.
This would make for a incubator that is pretty much hands free and could be left to run without much attention in case you are out of town.
It would supply fresh air exchange as well as a constant humid level as desired.
As for heat, i would adapt a fish heater to a pickle jar full of water by cutting a whole in the lid and fixing the heater down through it into the jar of water and Wa-la!.
As far as light im unclear if its needed during incubation?
Any comments?
