Beardie harming himself

Hi, had my beardie since an egg, and his mother before. He’s never behaved like this, always been fine, but has started to burn himself on his light. I have moved it so he cannot reach it, but he is still managing to burn himself/reach for the bulb. The temperature is correct, he is fed a variety regularly, and it is very new strange behaviour. He is 8 years old, and I had a light guard but broke it while cleaning him out.

If the light is closer than 8" its too close please post a pic of the tank and light - he should not be able to get to that light
