ReptiGLO 10.0 bulbs are not recommended because they can cause eye problems and other health problems, such as lethargy, and little appetite. Sometimes it takes a long time for any symptoms to show up and by then it is too late. I'll see if I can get one of the moderators to post the link to the test results so you can see for your self what the results show and make an informed decision. The reptiSUN 10.0 bulbs are highly recommended.I found the link,I hope it works http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherapyphosphor.htm
We have now documented 40 individual cases, occurring since September 2006, affecting 16 turtles, 3 tortoises and 21 lizards in the USA and in Europe, affected by ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 Compact Lamps and (more rarely) 5.0 Compact Lamps
It talks about the Repti-Sun 10.0 not the Repti-glo so maybe you should read the text properly... As It says nothing about Repti-glo
NO compact or coil lamps should be used!!! The flourecent bulbs are the good ones. As for the reptiGLO please contact Tracie(drache613) or Vicky(vickson) about these reptiGLO bulbs. I always try to stress,(maybe here I didn't) that the flourecent tube bulbs are the ones to use NOT compact or coil bulbs. I am only going on what I have learned here on this site and my own personal use of the ReptiSUN bulb,my dragon is healthy and very active.
oh my i completely agree with sara24354. no compact, coil or the reptiglo 20.0. oh my goodness if you really really really must use the reptiglo then it should be the 8.0. if you can get the reptisun 10.0 or even 5.0 that would make a lot of difference indeed. always the fluorescent reptisun tubes should be used and replaced every 6 months for maximum health and growth for the beardie.
good luck and i hope you make the right choice.

like i said i have had no issues with the Repti-Glo 10.0 Compact Bulb. Have had my beardie since october and we got that light at the time and she is fine.... And huge i might add.... I know tons of people that use the same bulb as us and have had no issues with it. Also talked to a petstore owner and he called the company as soon as I asked him about it and the company has not had any issues or calls about their bulbs it was another company over a year ago that was having issues with their bulbs and shut down the production of them,
you have only had him since last october? that isnt very long and he may not show symptoms this soon.
with all due respect everyone i have spoke to on here have all said a big no no to reptiglo 10.0 and to all compacts and coils.
but if some people want to chance it then its their decision we can only advise them, whether they follow it or not is their decision.
Well our beardie has had no issues and she is almost a year old now. is 17 1/2 inches long not to sure about weight as we do not have a scale but she is quite large
and our baby is doing wonderful he eats 2-3 times a day and eats about 5-15 crickets at a time. he poops properly is on his 2nd shed since being with us he was born feb 14 and is doing splendidly with the Repti-Glo 10.0
aw man, I just checked Hermes' new UVB bulb that my husband bought and it's a repti-glo not repti-sun. So I need to replace that. Also I need a new UVB hood for Twitch's tank because her UVB is a Zilla and I read that that's not good either. Can anyone recommend a good (economical) place to order the Repti-Suns? Since our pet stores do not seem to stock them... 8)
I use thick cloth placemats. When they are soiled, i replace it with another. They are easily laundered and the beardie knows to go on the placemat. The placemats sook up the liquid so cleanup is easy....Think of them like beardie diapers...
