I have two beardies and one of them is looking really sick. I have a 2 year old male and an 18 month old female. They are in a 40 gallon tank together and they do very well together and both have always seemed very happy. The female has another 25 gallon tank that we put her in to keep her seperated to give her a break and we are saving up to get a bigger one for her but just had our first baby so are a bit short now. The cool part of their terrerium is about 72* and I am getting a reading of the burmating side now but don't have it yet. I think it is probably around 110*. I have a reptiglo 5.0 UVB and i'm not sure what the UVA is cause its gotten so hot the label burned off. They get plenty of crickets and greens and I found some Bearded Dragon food that was on sale that i decided to try. Its called Monster Diet, has anyone ever heard of this and is it healthy? Its really green and since the time I started feeding it to them, my females poo has gotten extremely green. I'm not sure if it is the food but I'm wondering if its not because it has gotten really smelly. They haven't been as active as usual, the females sleeping habbits have changed and she stays awake alot more than she used to. She had really dark stress marks today and hasn't looked well at all. The male seems fine besides sleeping alot and not being quite as active. His poo seems to be ok. Oh I also have a fountain in there so they can keep hydrated. I've been giving them worm guard every feeding as well cause I thought they may have a worm or parasite. Any advise? and does anyone know of any beardie vets in the Salt Lake City area where I can get their poo tested? What can I do in the mean time?

Update. Just read the temp and the hotest part of the terrerium is 108*f. Also their terrerium is filled with about 1-2 in of 1/2 red rocky clay kind of desert sand and 1/2 i think its ground walnut substrate. the combo is great for digging.

Oh I was also wondering what a fecal sample usually costs. I'm on an extremely tight budget cause of the baby and my wife is in baby mode and has basically said if I have to take them to the vet then we're selling them. Please try to help me with what I have or am able to get without spending hundreds of dollars. Thanks

Hey,
That light you have is no good at all. It does not produce very good ubv at all. You should really change the light a reptiSUN 10 if you are tight on money, you can get the bulb here at http://www.petmountain.com/product/...bs/504983/zoo-med-reptisun-10.0-uvb-bulb.html. That is a really good bulb.
What you should do if you noticed that that monster feed was affecting their behavior that way, they you should not be feeding that to them at all. You should just stick the regular greens. Here is a great site with lists of good staple foods and treats http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html.
You really need to get a fecal done and probably should self medicate your bearded dragons like that. Especially if you don't even know if they have parasites or worms, you might be causing harm. You should stop using that.
What are you measuring your temperatures with? A probe or one of those stick ons? And 108 is a little bit to high for bearded dragons that old, usually they like it around 100-104.
That fountain of yours could also be a big problem. Bearded dragons can only take so much humidity before it makes them sick. So you should probably take that out if you have nothing to measure the humidity with. Have you ever seen your bearded dragons drink from the fountain? I'm guessing not though, which means that they are probably dehydrated. What you need to do is bathe your dragons 2x3 a week for about 20 minutes making sure that their vent is in the water.
Do you use calcium dust or a multivitamin at all?
I know that you are saving up to get a new tank but you should give them equal time in the big tank. Your female could also be stressed out due to your male constantly trying to mate with her. I know that you said that your separated them sometimes, but still having a male and female together is never a very good combination.

Thanks alot, I'm begaining to feel alot better. I have actually seen them drink from the fountain on several occations. I give them baths about 2x per week and before i got the fountain they would seem very thirsty when I bathed them but not so much since. The can drink from the fountain cause they can see the water running. I took it out for a while cause it takes frequent cleaning with the crickets and I idin't have the time to clean but I recently put it back in and they ran right up and started drinking immediatly. I have a probe thermomiter and another digital therm that also tests humidity that sticks to the corner. It is roughly about 30% humidity in the corner away from the fountain and that is where they spend most of their time. What should the humidity be? The worm guard isn't really medicine. Its a mixture of natural herbs and it says its a dietary suplement. Its made by nature zone and it has pumkin seed, black walnut, cloves, wormwood and a few other natural things. It smells so good I almost want to season my food with it. It says it encourages healthy bowel function and encourages a natural laxitive action that helps expell parasites and worms. My beardies seemed a bit ill some time ago and I gave them that for about a week and it seemed to help. It really has seemed to help with the smell as well but their poos are still very green. I assume it is the monster diet and will stop giving them that immediatly. As far as the terreriums, i put her in the smaller one because she is much smaller than my male. I try to let them run around too but it is just too cold in my house and they run into a corner and go to sleep. I think its usually about 60* in my house and its just harder to get the basement where they are any warmer. Do I need to go to a special exotic vet or do most vets do fecal samples? Anything else i should know and thank you again for the help. Oh I suplement them with reptivite calcium about 3 times a week.

You humidity sounds bout right. I'm jealous, that's cool that you have a fountain.
The only thing I'm worried about is your light though, that can cause some serious problems. You should really get the light on pet moutain.com from the link I gave you. Reptiglo's have been known to cause problems.

I know you are really strapped for money, but if you just get a small ceramic heater, they do a pretty nice job of warming up one of the rooms if you want to let them run around more.
As for the vet, I would recommend going to one where you know they actually handle and treat reptiles more then once in a while. There's a lot of specifics that vets usually leave out for example, I've had problems with vet's when trying to get a coccidia count. Which is necessary to know so if you have any questions, we'll be able to help you on here.

Awesome thanks again. I'll order one of those lights as soon as I got home and can measure the fixture and I'll find me a beardie vet to get a fecal sample.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
