I noticed last week that my bearded dragon's toe was slightly swollen. I called my vet, and they said it was probably a stuck shed. So I gave him plenty of baths and used aloe on his foot. The swelling got a little worse, but never enough to warrent an immediate trip to the vet. Just yeterday, the foot shed, and while the swelling went down a little, it's still obvious. http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/james_smith67/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160515_091150_zpskqyltbhb.jpg.html
Here's a picture from today. I can upload images from last week if anyone wants.
Does anyone know what it could be? Of course, if this doesn't clear up in a few days I will definitely take him to the vet but I don't want to spend $100 if it's something easy to fix.
And for care specifics,
Basking spot: 110 degrees Fahrenheit
Cool side: 80 degrees
UV bulb was recently replaced
Main diet: collard greens, kale, blueberries, and superworms
Age: about one year
Tank size: 40 gallons
(sorry if I forgot anything)
And he hasn't been exhibiting any unusual behavior or other signs of illness.
Thanks for any help!
Hi there....is the nail gone ? Can you post a pic of his tank ? Soetimes beardies get their toe stuck in something and hurt/tear the nail which causes a bit of inflammation....even getting snagged on a rock or in a hammock. It doesn't look too bad, give it some time, maybe a dab of Neosporin or raw honey [ from health food store ] I think it will be O.K
No, the nail is still there, and it looks fine to me. I'll try uploading a picture once I get my camera. It's possible he snagged it on a piece of wood in there, I'll see about replacing that just in case. And thanks for the suggestions!
