Ok, wow, another question from me! Hahaha, it seems I may have a lot, being a somewhat new owner and all. I did used to work at PetSmart for a while and learned a lot there, and I've also brought just about every book I can find on beardies. However, I talked to a local breeder and asked him some general questions(should I get him a friend, or is he ok alone) and he pretty much gave me the run around and didn't really answer any of my questions. Anyhoot...
So Harvey is about 5 or 6 months old. A month ago, we noticed that he was starting to flare out his beard, especially when basking. I know that beardies will open their mouths to release heat when they get too hot, but it seems like everytime he does this, he starts to "play" with his beard, and it looks like he's yawning. I just figured he came to the realization that he had one and was like, "Hey, I got a beard, look at me!" Never once has his hissed, or flared while being handled, unless my boyfriend didn't tell me something. He's never done it with me atleast. And he is so freakin' jumpy. As soon as we take him out, he searches for something to leap onto, or will start to run off with lighting speed. I just assume it's because he's in his "teenager" stage and that's why he's acting like a hooligan, and I'm hoping he'll grow out of it.
Also, does anyone's beardie loves shiney things as much as mine? I keep a chain necklace by the tank so he can sit there and stare at it. When he does sit still finally and sit on my shoulder, he stares at my lip ring almost entranced by it. It's the funniest thing.
