I ordered a brand new basking dome/fixture and will be here in 2 days but in till then I am using a deep deep dome. My question is is that the temp slowly climbs to 95+ with a low watt bulb BUT if I put a high watt bulb it climbs up to 110+. My beardie in question seems to adore that high wattage bulb rather than the slow climbing wattage bulb. Is it ok to let her sit and bask under the higher wattage bulb and watch her to see her behavior even though it's HOT?
As I said i bought a brand new dome and new bulbs also that should do the job but won't be here till Sunday
During the day (winter) her enclosure is around 95+-105+ degrees and at night around 70-75 degrees with no heat
(She is almost 5 and both of my beardies are in brumation and hit or miss with eating)
Ok as I said I have a new dome fixture coming Sunday
I normally put a towel over my beardies enclosures to keep them warm at night and to keep dust/light out. I was able to get the temp under 110 by removing the towels so I'm going to try a light fleece blanket/cloth. Something light and not thick so it can let heat escape during the day then cover them at night like usual
