so i just went to feed my little man, and when i knocked the roaches off the egg flat into a small tub, these things were with them! no idea what they are, can any of help? ill be changing the egg flats and cleaning out the tub regardless tho lol
Yes some feeder insect companies put them in with feeder insects like crickets + roaches to eat up the shed skin and the frass. Those are the larva of the dermestid beetle which turns in to a small hard shelled black insect. They can fly short distances so if I see the beetles I crush them. They are used by taxidermist, forensic specialists and museums to remove tissue from bones.
so i kept some in a seperate tub. now they look a bit different than before, more whitish grey. if they are actually cleaner crew ill leave them be and let them help keep the roach tub a cleaner lol
