I’ve recently bought a 14% uvb tube but I’ve learned it is too strong for a 40 gallon enclosure, this is the metal mesh-like material that it is rested on. It blocks out 30% of the uvb as it is placed on top instead of inside, will this still be too strong? I haven’t noticed any behaviour changes in my beardie.

Try 8-10 inches directly above the basking decor - watch his behavior - is the height 18 inches?

ok usually 14% bulbs are good on 24" height tanks - but can be used on the 18" on top of screens- this bill make the bulb not as strong going thru the screen
Ok, so it will be alright? Is there anything I should watch for, like odd behaviour? Potential risks I should be aware of?

He will move away from it if its too strong- watch to see how long he sits under it -

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
