Having Live Plants With My Beardie

I have one live succulent in my beardie's tank in a pot. Succulents are generally pretty healthy if your beardie decides to eat it, but my beardie leaves it alone for the most part. One time she knocked it over, but it wasn't a big deal. I like having it in there purely for aesthetic purposes...

    Mounting lights inside the tank?

I used a very simple and cheap way to mount my UVB light when I first got it. But now I use two of these, with the hook removed, from Amazon to keep the UVB hood in the tank: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B4YZVXG/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Opinion

Hahaha, oops. I was perusing more through this website and found a post in which one beardie was skinny and the other beardie was thriving. I thought to myself, "Hey, cool, I can link this post to that other post in which a user was asking about cohabiting dragons." But then I realized it was...

    Stupid/False Advice

Hahaha, that silkworm story is SO weird--every insectivore-owner should know that silkworms are highly nutritious, though expensive. A PetCo employee told me once that the coil UVB lights are perfect for a beardie. I overheard them highly recommending the Zilla Bearded Dragon Kit to a poor...

    Opinion

I'm sorry, but there hasn't been one post on this website in which two dragons cohabbed had a healthy life. Most of the time it's an owner looking for help because one of their dragons is sickly, skinny, and unhealthy, while their other one is thriving; and they can't understand because they're...

    New beardie momma

Ahh, I forgot to include: if you don't already, a probed thermometer or a temperature gun will let you know your basking temperatures. Babies need a basking area of 100F to 105F. You probably already know that though--but just making sure!

    New beardie momma

Hi there! Yes, definitely recommended to fix most of that PetCo advice you were given. Some of the most important points off the top of my head: 1. Switch out the calci-sand for a solid substrate such as non-adhesive shelf liner, tile, or reptile carpet 2. Please read the caresheet on this...

    Which brand flashlight

I agree. What you're referring to us the UVB light, and unless you get a fluorescent tube UVB produced by ReptiSun 10.0 or Arcadia 12%, then your beardie will not get enough UVB to survive. Please read these: https://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/newbies-guide-lighting-help/...

Ah! So Many Problems! Please Help!

The poor thing. It does look happy to be in your care. I hope you're letting him sit under a long quality UVB tube unobstructed by any mesh screen. He certainly needs as much as he can get now, being deprived of it for so long. He does look like he has YF, but (as ABHD mentioned) only a vet can...

10 year old beardie shedding help

I do think you should invest in a cheap probe thermometer. They can be bought at WalMart for $5-$10, as well as online for $5-$10. Without this, you do not know if your beardie is basking at adequate or safe temperatures. What type of UVB do you have (coil, fluorescent tube, or MVB) and what is...

Flukers Adult BD blend as a staple?

Hi there! I'm not familiar with that specific brand or using it, but I do know about a commercial bearded dragon food that provides wonderful high-quality insect protein without using live bugs. The Repashy Grub Pie is used by a lot of our members here, as well as owners of other insectivorous...

Bearded dragon not eating or pooping much

He could be brumating! But just to make sure, could you let us know what brand and type his UVB is (coiled bulb, fluorescent tube, or MVB)? And what substrate he's on? Has he also been sleeping/hiding a lot more often?

4 month old dragon suddenly becoming aggressive

What brand of UVB bulb are you using? You said UVB 10, but is the brand an Arcadia, a ReptiSun, or another? Also, is the UVB bulb a coil, or is it a long fluorescent tube?

    Thanksgiving With My Beardie

Hi there! It might hurt him more than if you left him at home. How long will you be gone for? You can just leave him a large salad, maybe, if you'll only be gone for two days. (I know babies don't usually eat salad, but at least he'll have the option of a salad instead of starving.)...

Replacing tile flooring, need other substrate options

I agree with Terry, being able to remove the substrate to do a thorough cleaning is important to make sure you can get out all of the fecal bacteria and stuff. Non-adhesive shelf liner is a godsend for substrates; and if you decide you don't like it, you've only spent $5 on it. (The Duck brand...

    New Bearded Dragon Owner

Okay! Well, good luck! If you have any more questions, I do think that the caresheet on this forum is pretty awesome. When I was starting out, I used it a lot, and my beardie is now a fat happy girl. This forum's caresheet has been compiled by experienced beardie owners, breeders, and vets...

    New Bearded Dragon Owner

I'm sorry, I know it's frustrating. I always recommend people read up on what they need for their desired reptile species before buying the pet, not during buying the pet. On the plus side, you could maybe get a leopard gecko instead (it's nocturnal/crepuscular)? Haha, I'm only halfway...

    New Bearded Dragon Owner

You can return what you do not need to the pet store and get your money back to buy yourself a tube fluorescent UVB bulb and a probed thermometer. It is not uncommon for new beardie owners to get frustrated because the pet store gives them wrong information and sells them wrong stuff. Have you...
