    Hot enough basking

That sounds good then, cause more lights further away is what I have. the basking is basically on one half of the tank and the other half is the cooler area, just have one small watt Che to keep it 75-80. She is good about going over there if she gets hot. Thanks for the info again cooper. :)

    Toulah the love bug

Wanted to do a little update on my baby beardie. Was Xander, but have since discovered he is a she. So her name is Toulah. :) I brought her home 3/17/15 and I think she was about 6-6 1/2" when I got her. Now she is a whopping 10-11" Her new 40g breeder tank is pictured too. (yes I have UVB...

    Hot enough basking

I'm using a digital probe to measure the temps, and it is in fact, a bit off. I got an old fashioned mercury thermometer to check it's accuracy and it was reading 100 degrees, while the probe was still in the 90's. I can't get the lamps any closer to her as they are sitting on top of her screen...

    Hi from Louisiana

Welcome to the forum. Since you said he wasn't always fed well, 14" could be smaller than his age would suggest. My baby girl is 10-11" and I believe she is about 4 months old. One of the best feeders in my opinion are Phoenix worms-also called reptiworms/calciworms/BSFL-Black soldier fly...

    Really at my age!

Welcome to the site, and congrats on your beardies! Reptiles can be rather addictive once you have one haha. I got my bearded dragon, then my sister got a chinese water dragon, and my other sister (we're all roommates) got a leopard gecko! I'd love to see a pic of yours sometime. Do you...

    Hot enough basking

Hello. Since I have upgraded my baby beardie Toulah to a 40g breeder tank, I have been having a hard time getting the basking spot temp where it should be. It has been maintaining around 100 degrees and I know babies need 110-115. I don't know what to do for getting it warmer. I've got 3...

    Supplementing

Awesome. I have cal-d3 powder already, just wasn't using it with the phoenix worms, they are her main staple insect. On the occasions that I get some crickets for a change of pace I will dust those with the cal supplement. And next time I have more money, I'll look into the T5s As always Cooper...

    Hiding after handling?

If you want to do more for her along with the baths you can get the zilla tropical mist spray. There are shed-help products out there that I find to be too harsh. The tropical mist spray is basically just aloe and b vitamins. I use it for mine along with the daily bath and there is a...

Poor girl is trying to shed

Zilla has a tropical mist spray that I use on my beardie during shed time. It has aloe and B vitamins, and I really notice a difference in how smoothly her sheds go, It softens the skin up and she just loves when I gently rub it in with my fingers after misting her with it.

    Hiding after handling?

How long have you had her for? They need a period to adjust, and the amount of time can depend on their personality. Shedding definitely makes them a bit cranky. Even with my very chill girl, I try to leave her alone during shed, aside from a daily bath to help the shed go smoother for her.

    Beardie Bowel Movement

You can try to get a reptile bath type bowl and leave that in his tank with shallow water, see if he'll go in there. You might want to get a different uvb next time you change it out, 5.0 is for tropical dragons such as chinese water dragons who live in forests. 10.0 Is for desert dwelling...
