For the dubia know it alls!

I was asking pogo if his dragon was a baby. Feeding tiny dubia nymphs would be kind of a waste if the lizard wasn't tiny. But I imagine a baby beardie would love them. On a related note: don't let your dragon eat th roaches off of your hand or arm. Leonidas soon came to the conclusion that any...

For the dubia know it alls!

It really just depends on how available they are where you live. You might consider getting a bunch of large nymphs for cheaper, and then when they molt into adulthood, you'll have adults that you know the age of.

You want to keep a 5:1 or 5:1 ratio of females to males. With 25 females, given a choice, I'd start with 5 males or so. Too many any there will be a lot of competition for females. As far as the garage goes, mine live in my garage out here in az. You should be fine, just watch temps and...

    Weird dubias?

Yeah, but it's ok because I shave them and give them sweet tea to drink. Not really. I have a critter keeper with about a dozen dubia in it. Whenever I make a change in food, temp, etc they get the change in advance of the colony so that I can make sure that I'm not doing anything...

    Weird dubias?

I just moved my guinea pig bin to the garage, where they will get temps similar to that. We will see how they like it. Maybe I should put an adult male and female in there and see what happens.

For the dubia know it alls!

I've made a couple changes to my new colony. First, I split the colony into 3 containers, from a single container. The large bin is the breeding container. The second container is a smaller one, these will be the feeders, and having them separate means that I don't often have to disturb the...

    Dubia heating

I use a heat pad and a red light as well. The red light does not seem to bother them at all. If the room is dark I can peek right in the bin and watch them eating and interacting as if it were pitch black. However, if I block the light or cast a shadow they will react.

    Leonidas' Photo Thread!

Here are some new, random photos of Leo! Stalking crickets! And he's off! Hanging out on his sort of expirimental new fake "rock wall". It was a learning experience, i think the next one will be better, but Leo loves it!

    New styrofoam landscape questions

No, I have to trim it a little and do another coat of thin-set. I assume using a sealer will smooth it out and make it more cleaning friendly? What sealer is recommended? Thanks

    New styrofoam landscape questions

I've created a new background/landscape/jungle gym for Leo, and I've got a concern. I am using thin-set for my coating, and in its dry state, it seems to be REALLY rough. This would be good for his nails, and at shedding time, but will it be a problem the rest of the time?

    My First Beardie

Great looking dragon! I agree, bathe him regularly (every couple of days), don't necessarily add water. What I do for water aside from bathing is that I'll mix a little water with his greens so that they stay moist all day. I haven't tried peppers with mine yet, maybe I'll give that a shot...
